RE: I bought a couple fake Pokémon Boxes!

in Trading Cards!3 years ago

Would be interesting to see how those compare to the real thing. I don’t collect Pokémon cards anymore these days. I know for Magic the Gathering the font thickness, card texture, and card bendability usually give fakes away.

For something like those Pokémon cards, I wonder how the foil edges compare to the real thing.

It does look like Fusion Strike Build & Battle Box are only going for $14.97 on TCG Player. They crashed quite hard in price. While it’s a little different than what you have it seems like a lot of these Fusion Strike boxes are not holding value well.

Sometimes the trick to a fake box is they are not fake cards they are just cheap chards. However, with some of the “pulls”, you got I might assume some of those cards could be real with the big finds being fake.

I would wonder how the colors on say the Ninetales stack against a real known card. It almost looks like the border around it has the wrong thickness. Along with the copy-right information being faded and harder to read than it should be. Those all could just be due to the camera angle as well.

As far as cost a “store” could have bulk bought a lot of the more common cards for less than a cent each. I’ve heard of people who just can’t toss their bulk cards but can’t hold them either just dumping them for a couple of bucks for thousands of the near-worthless cards that they also never played. Since they are not worth trying to sell online.
