Endless hunt.

The night was cold and foggy when I decided to take a shortcut home through the old alley. Big mistake.

At the other end, through the fog, I saw a huge canine silhouette. Its eyes glowed with an unnatural gleam, as if they had a life of their own.

I stopped dead in my tracks and the creature did the same, staring at me.

I tried to convince myself that it was just a stray dog, but as I walked on, I could feel its gaze on me. When I turned around, the animal was already halfway down the street, unmoving, stalking me.

A shiver ran down my spine as I realised it was imitating my every move.

I decided to pick up the pace to get home as soon as possible. The creature accelerated at the same pace, its footsteps echoing on the pavement with terrifying firmness. It was toying with me, like a cat with a helpless mouse.

I reached the corner and broke into a desperate run. Behind me, I heard a piercing roar that chilled my blood.

Looking over my shoulder, I saw it: a huge beast with fiery eyes and jaws opened in a hellish howl. It was not a dog, but a creature out of the worst nightmare.

I ran faster than I had ever run in my life, feeling its putrid breath chasing me. I barely made it home and it barricaded itself behind the door. But its roars and scratches never stopped, as if it could smell me through the wood.

I don't know what kind of demon that thing was, but I haven't been out after dark since that night.

Sometimes I dream of those flaming eyes stalking me and wonder if I will ever escape their endless hunt.
