The return

The sea breeze caressed their faces as they enjoyed the view of the vast ocean from the deck of the cruise ship.

The parents were smiling, ecstatic to have their perfect daughter by their side. They had left behind the dark secret of their past, buried in the depths along with their disfigured first child.

Suddenly, their daughter's childlike, innocent voice froze them in place.

-Mommy, Daddy... You're not going to throw me in the water again, are you?”

The parents' eyes widened in horror as their daughter turned her head toward them. Her sweet face had been transformed into a grotesque mask, skin cracked and eyes sunken into dark sockets.

Long, bony fingers extended toward them, sharp claws clawing at the air.

-Did they think they could get rid of me so easily?

The voice echoed, distorted and spectral.

-They'll never escape what they did.”

The parents recoiled, stumbling and screaming in terror as the creature advanced toward them, dragging its deformed form across the deck.

Other passengers watched in horror, unable to comprehend the scene unfolding before their eyes.

As the claws closed around their throats, the parents felt the cold embrace of death envelop them.

In their last moments, they saw the faces of both daughters overlapping, melting into an expression of twisted vengeance.

The cruiser continued on its course, oblivious to the horror that had taken place on its decks. The sea accepted the offerings in silence, swallowing the dark secrets of a family tormented by their own demons.
