If you are from India than you already know that the Toll system in India is not that great and could use a major overwork on it, but what if I told you that for just Rs 3,000 a year, you could travel anywhere in India without paying tolls? Don't believe me? Let's do the math.
Now take the Mumbai-Pune road for example. The distance is just 160 km, but we end up paying nearly Rs. 300 as a one-way toll amount.
Now let's assume that you frequently have to travel between Mumbai-Pune. The cost of that is going to be Rs. 600 just on tolls, and if you do that four times a month, that is going to add up to Rs. 28,000 a year. Crazy, right?
But here comes the twist. The Indian government is now planning to launch annual and even lifetime toll passes. For just Rs. 3,000 a year, private cars will get unlimited access to national highways.
And a lifetime pass is also available for Rs. 30,000 where you will get the pass for 15 years. And all of this will be adjusted to inflation.
If you ask me I am not so sure if this is something that could be viable in the long term but if there is an opportunity to just buy a yearly pass for till then I would most definitely take it as I commute a lot and getting a yearly pass would be a huge discount for me.
So will you actually buy the pass? Will you buy the yearly or will you buy the lifetime? Let me know in the comment section.
