Wednesdaywalk: Walking in St. Petersburg. Winter Canal, Palace Embankment and Peter and Paul Fortress

This is my entry for the @tattoodjay's Wednesday walk challenge.

Today I continue my photo walks in St. Petersburg.

Last time in my story I ended up on a bridge over a canal called the Winter Canal.

Deciding to continue my walk, I set off along the Winter Canal. Here I saw a huge puddle in which an arch was reflected between the two buildings of the Hermitage. As it turned out later, photographers often use this place to take similar photos. During the summer sunset, it looks breathtaking. It worked out fine for me too. How do you think?

Going further along the Winter Canal, I saw the Peter and Paul Fortress under heaped clouds on the opposite side of the Neva River.

On the waterfront, I saw an artist. He painted a city landscape and it interested me.

I asked the artist if he was opposed to having him photographed. The artist was not opposed.

I took several frames from different angles and among others I got this photo. Right picture in picture. How do you think?

Then I went to the Palace Embankment. I believe this embankment is so called first of all due to the fact that on this bank of the Neva is the Winter Palace, which I talked about in a previous post, as well as many other less significant, but also beautiful and rich palaces of the nobility of that time.

Opposite me was the Peter and Paul Fortress. In the middle of this is the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, which gave the name of the fortress. This is its spire with a gilded angel on the spire you see in the photo.

Looking back, I took another photo of the Winter Groove. If you take a closer look, you will see the artist whom I photographed, right next to the cars.

Well, to my left was the Winter Palace, which traditionally had a lot of tourists. See how many tourist buses cost on the promenade.

Passing to the Winter Palace, I saw a huge line at the entrance to the museum.

There were many foreigners from different countries. I think that there were about 500 people in line. I don’t know how long it takes to get to the museum at this moment. But the museum itself is worth it.

On this I will end my story. But I will definitely continue next time. See you on Wednesday!
