While I was scrolling through TikTok earlier today, I saw a post about a guy who crashed a car he borrowed from his friend fortunately he didn't die in the crash but unfortunately for him, he had a big case to settle with the person he crashed his car.

What would you do in this scenario if you were the friend whose car crashed? What would you do if you were the person who crashed your friend's car?
One thing I know is that I can never find myself in such a tough spot, first thing is I would never borrow someone's car, not for anything, we have commercial vehicles that can transport me to anywhere I want to go and I respect myself so much that I would never go and ask a friend to borrow me his car, the other reason why I can't borrow it is because I also won't give out my car to a friend.
There is love in sharing, but some things are not meant to be shared, and a good example is a car. Never give out something you can not afford to lose, this statement is not just about lending money to people, it also deals with expensive things like cars.
I can't give my car to a friend to drive because if anything should happen to the car, he would not fix it, all I would get from the person is sorry and sorry doesn't get the car fixed automatically, it is good to help but we must not render help that will affect us.

There are some things I can't do to help people...
I can't accommodate people to live with me, especially for a long time because I won't feel comfortable at some point having them around, Aquarius love their alone time and privacy, so having someone or a stranger living with you is a big turn off, so no matter how someone pleads with me, I can't allow that. Recently a man I know in the neighborhood who also helped me to transport my stuff to my new apartment called me that his son gained admission into my school and he wanted me to accommodate him, I bluntly told him No, I am not a fan of accommodating people I know talkless of strangers, 1 or 2 days is fine, one or two weeks bearable but for long, no no! So I turned down his request but gave him advice that he could rent a hostel or join hands with other freshers and rent an apartment outside.
The Issue of the car, Imagine spending millions of Naira to buy a car only for a friend to come and meet me that I should borrow him the car, he wants to use it to run errands or travel to his village, forget the car and focus on the price of the car, he is indirectly telling me to borrow him millions of Naira with no guarantee that the car will be returned back to me in good shape.
Some people do it, but I can't!, I would not put myself in an uncomfortable position to satisfy others because if things later go wrong, they will turn it to violence and you will wonder if it was the same person that came to you with a puppy face roaring at you like a lion now... So it is better to stay safe... Do not give out what you can't afford to lose

Borrowing out a car to a friend isn't a good thing to do "I agree with your perspective on this". Now the question is, "Who is gonna fix the car?" The friend who borrowed the car or the owner of the car? This is a tough decision, though.
well If he could buy or maintain a car, he wouldn't have been a borrower, so I guess in the end, it is the owner who will fix it and it could ruin their friendship.
I remember in school back then, I had this guy who wanted to squat with me, but I remember I had once lived with 5 people in one single room, and how terrible it was. Sometimes there's nothing like peace of mind, having your stuffs in the place you left them.
That is just one thing I can't accept, my limit is 2 weeks, anything more than that no way... but imagine 5 people in a room, it will affect your sanity lol, cos they will always mess up with your belongings
We had people using the tooth brush of others lol and wearing their boxers too. I dropped out after first semester, and only went back when I had the money to stay alone.
toothbrush? ah that is even worse lol
Another problem is for them not to have access to one's phone that contains sensitive information like password and all... and also a lot of things would be missing in such apartment cos they are too many and wont be easy to know who committed the theft.
I also think that I would not borrow a car as I don't like to take other's things and I have self-respect. Secondly, I hardly share my personal property doesn't matter if it's a little thing. I am not comfortable sharing my mobile let alone my car. I won't give it even if the friendship breaks for it.
Accommodating someone is not possible because I am not capable of doing it and I think I have similar thoughts with you in both cases.
oh yea, i do not like giving out my mobile too, people can be evil, some cases were people lost their wallet and ACC was because someone they called friend have access to their phone
I totally agree. We shouldn't share properties of ours we know can get damaged in the hands of people we're giving it to. Especially if it's a costly property like a car. For me I think I will only lend a friend a car on the condition that if he spoils anything in it he repairs. Being too friendly can get us into a lot of trouble.
most people that borrows something like that don't have the money to fix, so it is a good idea to put that on him that he will fix whatever goes wrong with the car, but some people will still take it and if things go wrong, they would start begging you... the best thing is not to give it to them
Applies to everything, especially money. One just has to have boundaries in these things. People pleasing will land one in therapy. A whole car? Lol. Not even my laptop I sweat to buy.
lol , same here, I also can't borrow someone my laptop or phone, cos it contained my online trxs
