At first, they went unnoticed, mistaken for a harmless atmospheric disturbance. But soon their sinister effects began to manifest themselves.
The particles, dubbed ‘ghosts’, had the ability to pass through any matter, altering its molecular structure.
Metals corroded, circuits melted and living organisms underwent devastating mutations.
Within weeks, civilisation collapsed. Entire cities were reduced to spectral ruins, vehicles and ships were rendered useless.
Nature was also decimated, forests and crops perished.
Scientists worked against the clock to find a solution, but each attempt failed. The ghost particles continued to multiply, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
When the last remnants of humanity were on the brink of extinction, the particles mysteriously ceased their advance as mysteriously as they had come.
