We had a circular walk around an area that is known locally as 'Flash Lane'. There's easy parking on the lane where you can quickly enter the wooded area. It was another day without rain. Is summer on it's way?
There was quite a bit of lichen in lots of places, especially on rocks, the stone walls, and trees. There was also the odd smattering of fungi as well. With all the rain that we've had I'm hoping we get a lot of fly agaric fungi this year.
I like these rays of sunshine that appear in the wooded area. It also looks good on misty mornings.
There are a few trees with red crosses on them which usually means they are in for the chop. They tend to cut the diseased trees down. It also creates a bit more sunlight for the more healthier trees.
There's a nature trail for the youngsters. What is pictured below? You have to answer the clues to help you finish the woodland trail.
There's even free dog poo bags! Win, win! There's a campsite close by that is dog friendly, so the local council provides the poo bags to encourage holidaymakers to pick it up!
It's really one of my favourite walks, especially when you don't want to go far. It also takes on a whole new look in different seasons.
