Today, we visited Alport Heights to see the Alport Stone in Derbyshire, UK which is a 20 ft pillar of quarried gritstone left over from the old quarry. Sadly, the car park was blocked off because of anti social behaviour, so we parked in front of the boulders! It's a pity they've used concrete lego bricks instead of something more aesthetically pleasing.
We followed the footpath up the hill passing the radio masts on the way.
Thankfully, it wasn't very steep. It was only a small circular walk so it wasn't long before we found the pillar.
There was plenty of lovely yellow gorse on the hill side and we spotted one or two rabbits.
We stopped to look at the circular topograph that inidicates places of interest in the distance, weather permitting. Unfortunately, it was a little overcast today.
After taking in the views for awhile we made our way back.
Beautiful place!!!
