Heather in Full Bloom

in The City of Neoxian2 years ago (edited)

From the middle of August onwards, the Derbyshire moors are covered in a lovely sea of purple heather.

Most people will visit the most popular tourist spots to look at the heather, but the lane I found was just as nice. Parking was easy. Even though other people had stopped to take photographs, I managed to find a parking space.

The only issue I had was that other drivers whizzed past me far too fast. There was no pavement, of course, so it was hairy scary. Nobody seems to take due care these days. They're always rushing about.

I don't live too far away, so it is easy to pop over to see how colourful it is. The sun we've had these past few days has definitely weaved its magic.

Sadly, there weren't any footpaths through the heather, so I just carried on walking down the road. I did try and investigate a little wood down one side of the road but got thrawted by a fallen tree and there was no way round it.

As I carried on dicing with death, after a while, I decided to turn around and go back as there was no heather further up the road. There were still some nice looking clouds, though.

I left the sheep in peace grazing in the sunshine.

Wow! Perfect day in the countryside. Beautiful colours and blue sky.
