I parked up to have a short walk around a small quarry not too far from where I live.
Someone had been there before as I saw a bit of stone art near the small pond (more like a big puddle). Stone stacking is quite popular. You just balance one stone on top of another. Not sure why people do it, perhaps it's just a bit of mindfulness.
Some people are against it though because they think it damages the environment. Insects and mammals live under the rocks, so by moving a rock, you are technically damaging their home.
Personally, I think they look quite good but I'm in no rush to do it. I don't think I could get two to balance, never mind several.
We've had a bit of rain so more fungi has appeared. I'm waiting for the fly agarics to come through, but no sign yet.
It is definitely getting cooler. It's still typical british weather as it's cold one minute and then the sun comes out, and then it's quite warm. I've decided if I keep my shorts on and wear a hat and gloves, I will cover all eventualities!
It was only a short walk but it was nice to see the stone art and good to know the fungi are finally starting to appear. More rain please!
