Cheap Sunglasses - Neoxian City Photo Challenge

Greetings Steemians,

This is my first entry in the Neoxian City Photo Challenge.

Recently I acquired some NEOXAG to help curate the Neoxian City Community and popped in the discord to say hello to everyone.

I ended up winning a raffle, and felt instant jubilation as emoji sensory overload flooded my senses, and everyone was so kind and welcoming.

I later checked out the announcements and noticed the Photo challenge. (Details and rules in the post)

This isn't the first time I've seen this photo challenge, but I told everyone I'm trying to step up my Steem game and mingle with the community more. I like to keep my word, and so I felt this challenge is the perfect opportunity to show everyone the magnitude of futuremind's skillz, and hey.. I love photography anyway, so this is pretty awesome!

Enough talk, here is what I produced:

Theme:

❄Reflection❄

I wanted to snazz it up a bit because my Samsung WB100 was purchased from a pawn shop, and I later realized it had some issues with graininess and focus. It's still decent enough, and I'm pleased with the final result.

Let's take a look at the process shall we? I utilized the standard Windows 10 photo viewer filter/enhancement effects.

I increased the clarity a little, and added a slight vignette. The vignette is barely noticeable, but it makes a difference and is noticeable if taken away.

2edit.JPG

I played around with all the different filters, and ended up deciding on "vanilla" as the effect, with a slight photo enhance and 40% filter effect.

3edit.JPG

And that is the entire process!

Here is the original with no effects. Which one do you like better?

And lastly, here is proof of the camera used for the photo:

I love the Rule of Thirds and generally employ its use with most photos I take.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you all enjoyed my entry for the

NEOXIAN CITY PHOTO CHALLENGE

Have a wonderful day!

Hi @annepink! Thank you so much!!!

lol

For a brief moment I was thinking about linking that video in the post lol.
Thanks for stopping by :)

Hmm, I thought that the first image in the post is the original... Maybe it's because lighting generally employed in homes here allow that :P

I kinda like the lighting of the photo (generally dim) and the choice to have sunglasses there... Not sure why but this composition feels more interesting the more I look at it. By the way, it's normal to have noise and focus issues on normal phone cameras or non-professional digital cameras when shooting indoors, there isn't enough light for them to perform very well :)

Oh, also, I like the edited one more :P and I love rule of thirds too. The grid is a must for me in every situation.

Hi @lilacse!
It's so nice to see you!

Ironically, my smart phone takes photos with better clarity, but the digital camera does take some nice macro shots under the right conditions.
I'm afraid something is wrong with it though, because it cannot zoom in past 50% without losing focus ability, and even outdoors it is still grainy. I'm still able to work with it though. It actually takes warm photos that remind me of more old school non-digital cameras. What would you call them, analog? I'm not sure.

The rule of thirds is interesting. I learned it in photography class as a teenager and never forgot :)

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment my friend. I hope you have been well :)

Normally I'll just call them... Ancient cameras. Lol. I really don't know of another name :P

In most cases I won't suggest zooming at all, because most cameras nowadays use a hybrid of digital and optical zoom. Once you go over the optical zoom range of the camera, it loses its ability to focus. And non-professional cameras also don't have terribly amazing zoom lens so the end result varies a lot.

If you can dig into the settings of the camera, try lowering the ISO and set a higher aperture instead if you need the brightness. High ISO values tend to cause grainy side effects from my experience. The downside is that you need the camera to be more stable because this will cause images to be more noticeably blurry if a shake happens during the shot. I don't quite remember about the technicalities but I think somewhere online will have it explained lol. Anyway just my two cents :3

In today's world, anything older than about 5 years is ancient lol.

Thank you for the advice about ISO settings. I will try playing around with it. A tripod probably wouldn't be a bad idea either, but I don't have much spare change laying around at the moment, so it will have to wait :P

Thank you for the advice my friend, very much appreciated :)

The photo looks great! I have heard/read a lot about the rule of thirds in photography, and I am trying to apply them when taking snaps with my smartphone(not that I have a DSLR or sumthing lol). Thanks for sharing about the contest... will check it out too. 😊

Thank you for the kind words!

DSLR are definitely nice. This one has something catastrophically wrong with it I'm afraid. I bought it used and it has focus and clarity issues. I'm still able to tweak it and take warm photographs with it, so I'm grateful to have it regardless.

The rule of thirds is definitely interesting, and I have always had a strange obsession with it.

All of my photography on the blockchain my first year here was a cheapo smartphone. Having any camera is better than no camera at all, and practicing with what you have will still hone your skills.

I hope your photography endeavors are full of fulfillment and positivity.

Thanks again!

Cameraception in the last photo. The sunglasses will definitely good on you when you wear it. Upvoted!

Haha, Cameraception indeed! I didn't move the camera at all, so you're looking at the exact placement and everything ;)

That style of sunglasses are the only ones that look good on me in my opinion. Maybe I have a weird shaped head or something :P

Thank you for your kind words and support my friend.
