Hace unos días compartía con mis hijas las experiencias que yo había tenido desde pequeño, recuerdo que con una tía casi de la misma edad nos entreteníamos utilizando el radiograbador de mi abuela, ¿Qué hacíamos? Simplemente nos grabamos teniendo una conversación hablando de cualquier pavada y luego lo reproducíamos en una mayor velocidad, eso era suficiente para entretenernos durante horas y horas sin parar de reír. Yo recuerdo y aún me causa gracia pero mis hijas, que la mayor tiene 14 años, no puede entender absolutamente nada de lo que estoy hablando, Y ahí es cuando comencé a explicarle que para grabar cualquier tipo de audio necesitamos un aparato y un cassette que allí se graba de forma magnética el audio que reproducía o lo que sea reproducido en la radio o bien lo que podía captarse a través del micrófono ya sea incorporado o externo, le hice una comparación que el cassette del radiograbador era similar a lo que hoy conocemos como pendrive (que últimamente casi no se utiliza). He logrado encontrar un cassette y mostrarle, explicándole cómo es su funcionamiento pero aún así es muy rudimentaria para que entiendan y para que descubran lo que a mí me costó muchos años descubrír.
A few days ago, I was sharing with my daughters the experiences I'd had since I was little. I remember that an aunt of almost the same age and I would entertain ourselves using my grandmother's radio recorder. What did we do? We simply recorded ourselves having a conversation about any old nonsense and then played it back at a higher speed. That was enough to entertain us for hours on end, laughing nonstop. I remember, and it still cracks me up, but my daughters, the oldest of whom is 14, can't understand a single thing I'm talking about. And that's when I started explaining to her that to record any type of audio, we need a device and a cassette that magnetically records the audio being played, or whatever is being played on the radio, or whatever can be captured through the microphone, whether built-in or external. I compared the cassette in a radio recorder to what we know today as a flash drive (which is rarely used these days). I managed to find a cassette and show it to her, explaining how it works, but it's still very rudimentary for them to understand and discover what took me many years to discover.
Hoy podemos realizar esa misma tarea con casi cualquier dispositivo que tenemos en el hogar, y hacer una grabación está prácticamente en alcance de cualquier persona en el planeta tierra, también se puede modificar, editar y reproducir cuantas veces uno decide, masificarlo de manera instantánea y cualquier persona en cualquier parte del mundo puede escuchar un audio que nosotros realicemos en este mismo momento, esto es muy sencillo y para quienes no han conocido parte de la tecnología como dicen mis hijas "antigua" no pueden apreciar lo fácil y accesible que son las herramientas tecnológicas que tenemos hoy en día.
Today we can perform that same task with almost any device we have at home, and making a recording is practically within the reach of anyone on planet Earth. It can also be modified, edited, and played back as many times as one decides, making it instantly available to everyone, and anyone anywhere in the world can listen to an audio recording we make right now. This is very simple, and for those who haven't experienced some of the technology my daughters call "old-fashioned," they can't appreciate how easy and accessible the technological tools we have today are.
Hace unos días también estábamos viendo un documental en YouTube y por causa del explorador que estábamos utilizando se reproducían propagandas en medio de la reproducción del documental, en eso interrumpí y dije "parece cuando veíamos la televisión que teníamos propagandas cada cierto tiempo", nuevamente una de mis hijas me preguntó ¿qué es eso papá?. Así me detuve a explicarle lo que era en la televisión en sí, hablando de los programas de televisión de aire, aquellos canales que teníamos que sintonizar con una antena y esperar el horario exacto en que iniciará nuestro programa favorito o alguna película, pero la tortura de ver las películas a través de la televisión eran las interminables propagandas, cuanto mejor era la película más propagandas tenía.
A few days ago we were also watching a documentary on YouTube, and because of the browser we were using, ads were playing in the middle of the documentary. I interrupted and said, "It seems like when we watched television, we used to get ads every so often." Again, one of my daughters asked me, "What's that, Dad?" So I stopped to explain what television was, talking about over-the-air television programs, those channels we had to tune in with an antenna and wait for the exact time our favorite show or movie would start. But the torture of watching movies on television was the endless commercials. The better the movie, the more commercials it had.
Toda esta reflexión vino a mi al estar utilizando últimamente con mayor frecuencia la inteligencia artificial, en mi caso Chat GPT, Deepseek y otras más que me son demasiado útiles, Y algo que me parece muy interesante aparte de todo lo que pueden hacer estas nuevas tecnologías, es que puedo entregarle a echar GPT un libro un PDF y luego pedirle que actúe como el autor y me explique algún concepto o alguna técnica que se presenta el libro, GPT asume ese papel que nosotros le indicamos y ejecuta la tarea, puede crear el resumen de un libro, puede tener las ideas principales, puede hacer todo cuanto le ordenemos que haga. En este caso yo necesitaba reforzar y repasar una técnica de seguimiento que se enseñado en un libro de Ryan Serhant y para ello publiqué el libro en PDF en Chat GPT y allí le pedí muchas cosas orientadas y basadas en ese y otros libros, lo cual ya GPT me dio un paso a paso de qué lo que tenía que hacer pensar y decir para lograr los objetivos que me había planteado.
This whole reflection came to me as I've been using artificial intelligence more frequently lately, in my case GPT Chat, Deepseek, and others that are extremely useful to me. And something I find very interesting, aside from everything these new technologies can do, is that I can give GPT a book (a PDF) and then ask it to act as the author and explain some concept or technique presented in the book. GPT assumes the role we assign it and executes the task. It can create a summary of a book, it can capture the main ideas, it can do anything we tell it to do. In this case, I needed to reinforce and review a tracking technique taught in a book by Ryan Serhant, so I published the book in PDF on GPT Chat. There, I asked him for many things based on that and other books. GPT gave me a step-by-step guide on what I needed to think and say to achieve the goals I had set for myself.
Es así que una vez más estoy agradecido por el tiempo que estamos viviendo, hoy tenemos herramienta que nunca jamás habíamos pensado tener, herramientas y tecnologías que para personas como yo vienen de una época donde todo esto ni siquiera se veían las películas de ciencia ficción, hoy es una realidad en la que cualquiera de nosotros tenemos acceso ¿lo estas aprovechando?
So, once again, I'm grateful for the times we're living in. Today, we have tools we never thought we'd have, tools and technologies that, for people like me, come from a time when all of this wasn't even seen in science fiction movies.
