Hey Hivers! Nice to be here again. Seeing what the topic of this week’s Ecency Weekly Posting is about which is Fruit, hosted by @mypathtofire, I was immediately elated because all things food related are my favourite things to talk about and after chocolates and cakes and pastries in general, my next favourite thing is fruit.
And so, getting on to my favourite fruits in the whole world. At least to a large extent...
The first is watermelon. I know, I drooled too, thinking about it. I adore watermelons for several reasons.
First, as someone who’s generally in love with fluids, watermelon is like my go-to treat when I’m in a rush and I want to eat something that will give me food and water at the same time. You just take a huge bite and feel it practically rinse your mouth. It’s quite a refreshing fruit, to say the least. The seeds are considered annoying by most people but I’m not bothered, mainly because randomly shooting watermelon seeds at the heads of people at home is a welcome pastime for me.🤗
There are these little watermelon sweets that look like jelly drops that I liked taking. It had that undiluted watermelon taste. But, over here, any change in the economy leads to an immediate downward spiral in the quality of foodstuffs so after I took it recently and found out it was no longer the same, I settled for the fruit itself. I did decide to get a bit weird and diced watermelons into my custard and it wasn’t bad at all. You should try it, that’s if, you rank high in the weirdometer as I do.
And my other favourite is, drumrolls, please….Grapes!
These little balls of delight became a recent addition to my favourite things to eat list. I tried it, for the first time at the beginning of this year. Shocking, I know. But, I immediately fell in love with it. Especially since the combination it was used with was cake. It was a multi-layered cake consisting of red velvet, vanilla and of course, chocolate. And then the grapes were the toppings on the cake.
Maybe, I wouldn’t have eaten it so much but it was an event by one of my relatives and I was in charge of sharing the cake. So yes, let’s just say I unashamedly took advantage of the opportunity. But, in my defence, everyone had more than enough as well.
Anyways, I fell in love with it as well. None of the ones I’d eaten had seeds. I guess it’s a different variety. Ate it nonstop from then. Unlike watermelons, grapes are quite expensive. Not too expensive but you don’t just buy it readily like you would watermelon. So, it’s something I eat when I want to indulge myself a bit and feeling all that moist goodness burst in my throat takes the sting out of my lighter pocket.
So far, the weirdest combination I’ve done with grapes is to eat it with bread. So, I take a bite of bread and pop a grape into my mouth too. It’s more like eating and then taking a sip of juice. Quite nice.
