KHA'ZI CONJURER: The Key to Victory in a High-Stakes Battle

in The City of Neoxian2 months ago

Hi, Splinterlands warriors! How are you doing at the end of this season?
This time, I want to share a unique experience from one of the battles that had my heart racing. Just imagine, I had to face a challenging ruleset: Back to Basics and Unprotected with a 44 mana cap. The elements available were Fire and Dragon, so I had to be smart about choosing my team.

Battle Begins

I chose Quix the Devious as my summoner. Why? Quix can reduce the opponent’s ranged attacks, which would be very useful in this match. With the Back to Basics ruleset, all monsters lose their special abilities, so I focused more on their basic stats. The lack of armor also meant that attacks would go straight to the monsters.

Here’s my team composition:

  • Vruz (Level 3) – I placed it in the front. With a speed of 5, Vruz could strike first, delivering an early hit before being sacrificed as a shield, making the opponent's attacks wasted on a monster that had already taken its turn.
  • Void Dragon (Level 3) – With a speed of 5, this monster could unleash quick and powerful magic attacks. I positioned it in the second slot, relying on its attacks to hit the opponent’s frontline directly.
  • Night Reaper (Level 1) – This monster has a speed of 4, and I hoped that speed would help it dodge some enemy attacks.
  • Chaos Dragon (Level 3) – With its powerful attack, it became the perfect monster to apply significant pressure on the enemy each round.
  • Molten Ash Golem (Level 1) – Positioned at the back for added attack power, although its low speed made it vulnerable.
  • Kha'Zi Conjurer (Level 1) – With a 4-point ranged attack, it could deliver strong hits from the back, taking advantage of the Back to Basics ruleset that nullified its special abilities.

Meanwhile, my opponent used Helios Matriarch as a summoner, which could boost their team’s power. Their lineup included Arkemish the Bear, Thinderlock, Blood Maker, Scavo Firebolt, Sarius, and Kha'Zi Conjurer—most of them being ranged attackers. This meant that if I could take down Arkemish the Bear, their backline would struggle when forced to move forward.

Round 1: Opening Strikes

The battle began, and Vruz was the first to fall. But it wasn’t in vain, as my Kha'Zi Conjurer managed to take down Arkemish the Bear. This was crucial because, without Arkemish, the opponent’s ranged monsters now had to step up to the frontline. Void Dragon also survived this round, continuing to deliver its magical strikes.

Round 2: Intense Struggle

The second round brought tension. Void Dragon eventually fell after making a significant contribution, and Thinderlock from the opposing team was also eliminated. With Thinderlock gone, the pressure on my team began to ease.

Round 3: A Chance Emerges

In this round, the enemy’s Blood Maker was taken down. Night Reaper proved to be lucky, dodging several enemy attacks. This gave my team enough momentum to dominate the round.

Round 4: Victory Secured

In the final round, the opponent’s Kha'Zi Conjurer was the last target for my team. The combined attacks from Night Reaper and Chaos Dragon finally took down the remaining enemy forces, securing the win for my side.

Battle Reflection

This battle proved that magic monsters can be very powerful under certain rulesets, especially Back to Basics, which neutralizes special abilities. Kha'Zi Conjurer was a key player due to its high ranged attack, without the risk of harming teammates. Quix’s reduction of the opponent’s ranged attack power also helped my team hold out longer.

The main lesson? Never underestimate battle rules! Sometimes, the best strategy is to adapt to the given rules and make use of the base stats of the monsters you choose. So, that’s my story this time. If you have any interesting experiences in Splinterlands, feel free to share them too! May your cards always bring you victory!
