I'll Play the Blues for You is the seventh studio album by Albert King released in 1972. In 2017, the single version of the title track was inducted in to the Blues Hall of Fame. The band is The Memphis Horns and The Bar-Kays & The Movement as the rhythm section. It's arranged and produced by
Allen Jones and Henry Bush ( who also is the engineer)engineer. This album's first song and title track is arranged with brooding rolling horn lines that set up King's voice and guitar magnificently. Little Brother (Make a Way) is more churchy and King exhorts the next generation to take up the struggle facing those looking for freedom. Breaking Up Somebody's Home starts with a bubbling bass line, organ and horn stabs as Albert explains his obsession with someone who is off limits. Great horn arrangement here as well. There is another equally great Albert King album with horns called The Blues Don't Change. I'm going to include his version of Can't Stand the Rain from that album at the end here as a teaser.
