The Legendary Immortalis*
I FINALLY got lucky enough to get a Splinterlands Air Drop! It was the legendary earth summoner, Immortalis, and I actually drew 2 of them!
At first, I wasn't all that impressed, but I've used this summoner a few times, and he works very well against magic teams; especially when coupled with the Mushroom Seer's silence magic debuff.
Mushroom Seer
I generally play in silver or gold league. At that level, most magic monsters will only have 1 or 2 magic attack after the silence takes effect. Combine that with Immortalis' void ability that allows every one of my monsters to absorb 1 magic damage from every magic attack, and you have a very strong advantage against magic teams.
The key here is knowing when to use Immortalis, and this is where a bit of patience and strategy come in. Before each match, Splinterlands gives you an opportunity to see your opponent's lineup for the last 5 or so matches. I use to rush through the game, so I never really paid attention to them. Lately, though, I have been looking at that data and using it to choose my lineup. If I see that my opponent has a tendency to use a lot of magic attack, then Immortalis + Mushroom Seer may be my best play. As you can see from the video below, the combination makes you nearly invincible!
Additionally
As a Legendary summoner, a level 1 Immortalis is able to command level 3 common monsters, level 2 rare and epic monsters, and level 1 legendary monsters; a feat that rare summoners can't accomplish until they reach level 2. And, with just copies of Immortalis, I can bump him up to level 2, which would be equivalent to a level 4 rare summoner. So, since I received two Immortalis cards in the airdrop, I could spend an extra 10 bucks (USD) and end up with a summoner that can play higher level cards than what I can currently utilize.
Monster Limits
Overall, I am pretty excited about Immortalis! For now, I will probably only use this card when the situation calls, but I may end up buying a few more copies and leveling this thing up. Right now, my highest summoner is a level 3 epic; equivalent to a level 2 Legendary. This could be my chance to up my game for a fairly cheap price.
Awesome congrats!
I didn't get a single one for a change :p
