Everyone loves coming to the ecosystem and seeing that red dot on the bell icon.
I know that on seeing this comparison, I believe the next thought you will have or should have is "what sort of ridiculous and obvious option this is".
Yeah, I know that it is obvious that most if not all would run off with the upvotes and completely neglect the other. Seriously, everyone loves to check back on their post to see the upvotes rolling in that alone leaves smiles on faces and brings this feeling of fulfillment.
But is it complete?
There was a day I came on and saw my post had a lot of engagement but few upvotes. I was like, I wish these comments could convert to updates at least let me receive some compensation for my stress but funny enough.
When I eventually had a nice payout post, I checked and didn't have a single comment and after some minutes, the only comment I got was from hivebuzz and part of me was disappointed.
I think that even though getting upvotes is good, there is this special feeling that comes when people relate well with your work.
or why do you think authors have book signings and others?
This is done to allow readers to connect with the author on a personal level and gain insight into the inspiration behind their work. The author also gets to see how readers relate to their books and more inspiration can easily flows knowing that people were touched by the previous work. It also provides a chance for authors to express their gratitude to their readers and build a loyal fan base.
Since we can't have book signings, I guess the next good thing is coming to see comments knowing that people actually read your piece and had to leave a piece of their mind. The feeling is actually equivalent to dropping a comment. I can't say I prefer the comments more than the upvotes, this is my way of telling you all reading this right now that your comment goes a longer way in letting authors know that someone actually took time off to read their posts.
Although, I won't mind receiving appreciator's upvote or getting one from blocktrades or maybe one from neoxian, but imagine if these guys left me a comment while upvoting my post. I would not let amigoes de hive hear the last of it 😂. It was just on Monday that @ebass in the hive learners Monday hangout gave a point that we should always leave comments and as I was wondering, this thought came to me.
So guys, in as much as having a very high payout on your post is good, I feel you will be more happy if there is also a comment left for you to reply to and build some relationships
