A vandal cutting electrical wires
In the early hours of Monday this week, residents of my neighbourhood were bewildered after learning about the vandalisation and theft of essential electrical components from the transformer and transmission line that supplies electric power to our area. A plumber, whose shop is close to the electrical facility, called the attention of residents to the incident after he discovered that some of its components were missing upon his arrival at his shop. The news of the stolen electrical components elicited shock and anger from residents, who, before the notice, were eagerly anticipating the restoration of power supply that had been disrupted a day before the incident.
Business owners like hairstylists were adversely affected by the electrical vandalism in our area
The actions of the vandals, besides making residents feel exasperated, also caused our neighbourhood to suffer a prolonged power outage. This development immediately had a negative impact on personal and commercial activities in our area, particularly on business owners who depend on the power supplied by the electricity provider for their businesses. Consequently, due to circumstances beyond their control, these affected individuals either had to incur more expenses to maintain their operations by switching to an alternative source of power or run at a loss for failing to do
so.
Criminality should be sternly dealt with in our society
Recall that a few days ago, I shared a story of how thieves, under the guise of retail scrap metal traders, carted away an item from my mum's grocery store successfully for the second time. After the publication of the post about that incident, little did I know that our neighbourhood was going to experience the same unfortunate fate! The execution of the illegal activity by vandals in my neighbourhood further underscores my views and concerns about the prevalence of crime in our society and how insecure our communities have become.
Strong work ethics should be promoted by everyone
The rate of crime in our society seems to be rising exponentially daily, and if allowed to continue, poses a grave danger to all of us. As a society that hopes to optimise its potential, we need to strongly disapprove of this trend that is gradually becoming a norm. Despite the unfavourable economic conditions in the country and the challenges, such as unemployment, that have arisen from it, the practice of engaging in illicit activities as a means of survival must be discouraged. Civic education and virtues such as strong work ethics and good moral principles should be promoted and supported by everyone in order to produce responsible members of society and to discourage criminality.
A renowned clergyman ensured the restoration of electricity in our neighbourhood
Despite the vandalisation of the electrical facility in our neighbourhood and what, at the time, seemed like a prolonged power outage, I am thrilled to share with everyone that the stolen electrical components have been replaced, and electricity has been restored. The resolution of this unfortunate incident was facilitated by a renowned clergyman in our neighbourhood who financed the repair of the electrical facility. Our profound gratitude goes to him for coming to our aid and ensuring we did not remain without electricity for an extended period.

Have a splendid day folks.
