RE: A Bumpy Bike Tour

in Cycling9 days ago

Fear is not a good thing when cycling. It makes you insecure which increases the risk of falling again.
The best remedy is to get up immediately and get on your bicycle again.

I have had some crashes, but never with serious injuries. I once fell on a roundabout where the tarmac was slippery because of oil. And I also once crashed full speed into the side of a car when the driver didn't give me the right of way. A broken cycling shoe and a bent wheel was all I got.

I think the same as you; fear is overcome by getting back on the bike.

I also crashed into a car, but that was my fault, or rather the mechanic's. I paid for the maintenance, and the mechanic forgot to properly install the brakes. So, going downhill, thinking I had brakes, I ended up hitting a car. Fortunately, it was a very nice lady, and it only left a scratch on her car. If it had been someone else, maybe the story would have been different 😅

Having no brakes is scary indeed. You really were lucky not to have a serous injury

I was the luckiest man that day , I've never doub that 😅
