Could I say that my days are interesting, that they deserve to be narrated? Yes... of course they are. We all have interesting days although, perhaps, we don't always have the grace, the attitude or the time to write about them.
I was on the verge of giving up this storytelling thing today November 12, but I've cheered up a bit. Anyway, it's two hours to another day in this Earth, and by the way, I have important birthdays in the family this month, my grandmother's and my handsome nephew's. It doesn't seem to have much to do with it but yes... there are more stories that I will eventually tell.
For now let's focus on what I did after noon.
I went to the Altahabana neighbourhood to pick up some stuff that needed to be frozen and thank my friends Mary and Eddy I could preserve them in their fridge during the days of the blackout. But first, before I left, I spent my time, as usual, whizzing round and round the house and I also went around the backyard and saw how damaged my plants were because of the hurricane. My mother says that another hurricane is on its way and to gather firewood and store it in the little house that used to belong to my dogs Frida and Queen. Oh... 😔 may they rest in peace my beautiful loves...
😢 ... is that there is not a day that goes by that I don't miss them.
Well... It's okay... I have planted passion fruit in that spot and it is already bearing fruit.
I think I will soon be able to harvest them to make juices.
Mary told me something I didn't know and I was very surprised. The thing is that they can be used to make a dessert, with the external part of the fruit, and it is like the guava dessert that we call ‘casquitos en almíbar’ here. Yummy... that must be good.
🤤
We'll have to buy sugar because I spent the one I had on jam. I had to make it with the mangoes I stored in the fridge because they almost spoiled.
The next door neighbour offered to make it on her wood cooker and I left her half of the jam when it was done. I also shared with my other neighbour. We all shared meals those post-hurricane blackout days.
I have a lot of work to do in that backyard. But I'm not always really up for it and sometimes I have other things to do that I have to prioritise. I recently grafted one of the guava plants to see if I can get it to bear fruit faster. I hope I got it right. I watched YouTube videos about it.
Speaking of firewood, I went to the LPG point and it was closed. Apparently we will have to wait until Friday to see if by any chance there is any or if this product, so necessary for cooking, arrives. The thing is that if we have problems with power cuts again, I won't be able to use my electric cooker. So I will have to listen to Mamani and collect firewood. I never thought it would come to this, Universe. Lol. Please don't push it. Note that I don't mind collecting firewood or cooking with it, but when I go camping or on a spiritual retreat to a mountain, for example? Ay madreee 😃
The butterfly flowers are not too bad, they just need a bit of tweaking.
Some of them still have cement splashes from when my neighbour had her concrete roof poured.
The orchids are the happiest... because even the little yellow flowers are a bit wilted.
There are also the creepers, which are a nuisance. If you're careless, they immediately embrace everything without permission. And there are those braided vines that are super strong... I dared to pull one and got a cut on my hand.
The banana trees have almost all fallen with their tender bunches, so that is lost. A pity... so good those fruits were coming.
...
Today I was thinking about how people (myself included) judge others without knowing what they are going through.
I saw a reel on Instagram that got me thinking about that topic. I've been trying not to judge or to judge as little as possible. I also shared that reel on my WhatsApp status and got a response from an acquaintance, 100% approving. The funny thing is that not 10 minutes later she told me about a supposed revolt that took place near here. A revolt or protest that I didn't know about and I told her so. She then proceeded to call the people involved stupid and a lot of other slurs. I didn't say anything to her in the first instance, but then I reminded her that we shouldn't judge because she has no idea why these groups came out to protest.
Food was spoiled because of the lack of electricity. There are people who do not receive any financial help and live in very vulnerable conditions, with sick loved ones, even bedridden, who need expensive medicines, and food, which is also very expensive. Or think for example of the children, children, nephews and nieces, who ask for food and other things that maybe they see and want to have and their family cannot give them because their salaries are not enough. Many cubans have been very unhappy for a long time, for years.
Well... let's leave that issue. The highlight of the day was this little bike ride. The temperature was fresh. I barely sweated and the clouds were beautiful. Look at the figures there when I show the river.
{It seems that the uploading of the video is delayed... this post will be published on the 13th of November, Cuban time... I can't be stressed... this connection is slower than a... cute and tiny... turtle} 🤣
Finally!
YouTube
As always the city and its people in daily turmoil, waiting (at the bus stops) as if there was nothing else to do but wait and a lot of dirt on the streets, which saddens me the most... However, I choose to see how beautiful it is in the sky and feel my body respond with vitality and lots of energy after these outings.
I have two bikes now, but I use the MTB for errands and rough terrain, while the road bike for longer rides.

Thank you! 😀
Aw, much appreciated, @ewkaw and Qurator! 🌟
Reading you is always interesting and I don't know how you make something move inside me. I felt a little sting when I read about your mother's firewood collection place. This morning I was remembering and missing my dear Rocky too. 🥲
I'll stay with this:
We can always choose what makes us feel better. 🌻
Paloma, I am very sentimental... and well, you react to that subject because it is close to you. I don't think I'm ever going to forget them in my life, nor you your friend Rocky.
Gracias.
There is always an incentive to live. In your yard you find beautiful flowers, butterflies that also give off an exquisite perfume. And passion fruit that you planted and now grows to give tasty fruits. And the guava, the bananas will grow again, and we will eat delicious bananas. There in your backyard is the true magic of nature, enjoy it. A kiss.🥰❤️
¡A dormir! A ver qué haces despierta a estas horas... 😁
What beautiful figures in the sky, what beautiful clouds... I love them! A super nice ride, I'm glad you're ok with the hurricane issue... even if you have to spend time in the garden!!! Hugs!🤗
Beautiful! I loved these formations and many others I saw along the way. I really enjoy creating stories and characters in my mind with clouds.
Thank you Amonet.
I also like to look at the rock formations, you can often see faces...
Of course, I also like to watch the rocks. I just watch everything... actually.
Ojo entrenado, eso es muy bueno... saber ver...
🤣 claro que no puedo superarte
👀👀👀
Good evening @nanixxx, or good morning? As I was reading the post different thoughts and feelings have been coming to me, logical, you are jumping from topic to topic.
However, one thing has reminded me of my childhood, the support between neighbors and friends. Although the neighborhood where I spent my childhood has changed a lot, a few decades ago it was just another working class neighborhood on the outskirts of Madrid. Full of young couples facing life with children and, in many occasions, with little economic income. And in that neighborhood, if a family was in need, the neighborhood quickly came to their aid. Now it is very different, that neighborhood has become a middle class neighborhood, and those new neighbors who don't know each other and don't even want to know you, don't even say good morning to you.
This is just a small reflection, I already went through the video, thanks for the ride. I hope the next hurricane changes course and I didn't go through there, I'm of the opinion that the Universe has already put you enough challenges.
(Un poco largo, verdad? 🤔)
A hug 🤗
Well, I edited the post a bit and the video got cut when I tried to reduce it, that is to say, to make it weigh less so that it would upload faster... this also compromised its quality, so I'm trying to upload the full version. Nothing that everything always costs me triple the effort... I'm exhausted.
It's nice to help each other as neighbours. But I can also tell you about the ugly part, for example, about neighbours who don't understand that the perimeter wall of my house (which I built with my own money and which, because I did it to solve everyone's problem, privacy and delimit the space, I stopped building the rest of my house) is not to put roofs on it or use it as a wall for their constructions.
😔
I'm exhausted.
(Perdona) un abrazo 🙂
Perdonada 😊, y descansa. See you later 👋
😅 Y buenos días.
😂, no quiero preguntar qué hora es por allá, pero creo que deben ser las 💤💤 en punto, más o menos. Descansa. 😃
Ay si me acuesto se detiene esto
y entonces todo este tiempo perdido.
Uff!! Qué paciencia!!! 😱
