The coast-to-coast ride with Velotrybe was an incredible adventure, filled with endurance, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments.
We kicked off our journey from Villa Hilton, riding through Etinan, then Eket, before finally reaching our destination—Ibeno Beach.
Before we moved, our captain reminded of the rules to make sure we arrive at our location safely.
At Eket, which was about 60km+, we refilled our water cans, eased off, took bananas for the muscle and chocolate for some energy, then continued to our location. A cyclists joined us from Etinam to Eket and returned while another joined at Eket to The beach. It was cool to see different bikes and people of all ages.
The feeling of the cool ocean breeze at the finish line made every kilometer worth it.
Covering **91.38 km† over 4 hours and 33 minutes, the ride challenged both body and mind. With an elevation gain of 388 m, we pushed through every climb, enjoying the thrill of the open road.
On arrival, I felt a sense of accomplishments, having rode my longest and most demanding ride. The ocean waves and the music it sang was also very comforting.
I couldn't wait to get my feet dirty along with these two comrades in the sea sand as the wave splashed and washed the sand beneath our feet. I looked around and everything felt new since last I came was over seven years ago as a kid.
Recreation
We ordered drinks and food of our choice. We are , danced, and laughed together feeling the bond of belonging to a cycling team.
The Doctor in our midst also turned to be our DJ, lol.
While the pro riders took on the challenge of cycling back, I opted to join the support vehicle. However, when a teammate struggled with exhaustion, I stepped in to assist him, ensuring he completed the ride back to our starting point.
This ride wasn’t just about distance—it was about perseverance, teamwork, and the shared passion for cycling. Looking forward to more adventures on two wheels!
