120, but the wording is no fair.

Divide by half is multiply by two.
When did we learn that?
5th grade?
And then never used it in real life, ever.

I must use it. I've remembered how to do it for 64 years. We didn't have calculators. Now folks just pop stuff in their calculators and have no idea what's going on. But really, if the word "by" were replaced by "in," the answer would be different, so that is sloppy language, mathematically.

!Lol, I had to use the calculator to make sure I remembered it right.

We have seriously wronged our children with those, and many other, devices. I tutored a student once, a student who was considered to be very smart mind you, who could not multiply a number by ten without his calculator. I say bring back slide rules for calculations with very large or small numbers, and do everything else in your head.

We are guaranteeing that after the next carrington event it takes many years to rise from the ashes.

What did the doctor say about the tall person in a rush to see him?
I wish you were a little patient.

So I got it wrong. Damn

I think the joke is that 3 out of 4 of the answers could be correct because "by half" is not clear.

Divide 50 by half of 50 (50 / 25) + 20 = 22
Divide 50 in half (50 / 2) + 20 = 45
Divide 50 by half of one (50 / 0.5) + 20 = 120

45 too easy.

When you divide by half, you multiply by two.
It doesn't say divide 50 in half, it says by half.
Try it in a calculator.

Yeah I got that after reading the comments after the fact. Doh!
