All in all, I would consider Season 142 a success, although I didn't really go above or beyond with my effort or time in the game. S142 ran from September 1 through September 15, which is busy for me during the start of the school year. I still haven't been playing Modern ranked battles as much as I would like, but I did renew my effort to more consistently submit my tournament battles. I've found that playing tournaments has much higher potential return than spending that time jamming ranked battles in Modern.

My performance in ranked play met my preseason goals. Although my number of battles in Wild was way down once the ability to buy energy with vouchers was removed, I still decided to spend some of my earned glint on additional energy. It was a net loss considering the glint used to buy the energy and the glint earned through the ranked rewards wins, but it did allow me to convert some of this extra glint into SPS from the ranked rewards earned in battle.
In Wild, Xbot secured a Top 25 finish (23rd) which yielded an additional 40000 DEC leaderboard prize. The overall Wild win rate sat around 53.3%, however rumblings about automated services indicated that the Archmage bot might have made algorithmic changes to improve its win rate ahead of Xbot. I haven't bothered to look into the data too much, but if this anecdotal evidence continues, I might be influenced to swap out the bot service on my top account.
In Modern, I only had time to play 61 ranked battles on my own. I finished with my head just above water in Champion 3, barely cracking the 3700 rating to break into Champion League. Overall, I finished in 149th place in Modern rating, which doesn't sound too impressive. However, I was very pleased with my 59% win rate in those 61 battles, and given more time to freely battle in Modern, I ought to be able to run my account up to Champ 2 or even making a run for Champ 1.

Once again, I am completely baffled about how these tournament calculations are made. Based on the currency activity of SPS earned from tournament prize payout, I received 10198 SPS from the 16 events I finished in a payout position during S142. I earned an average prize payout of 637 SPS from each of my successful tournament finishes.

Of my 442 wins, only 36 came in Modern and the bulk (406) came in Wild. I earned 7788 SPS and over 1.5M glint (1,502,437 to be exact). Based on both formats, I earned an average of about 17.62 SPS and 3399 glint per win. Looking at my 823 total battles played, I earned 9.46 SPS and 1825 glint per battle. These are some impressive numbers and I hope to improve on them as I continue to build out my Modern and Wild collections.

Once again, my earned SPS report totals over 10K SPS, which I view as a benchmark for earned rewards. One place where I have been reconsidering my SPS efforts is mining the SPs from land. The returns are pathetically low based on the value of the resources I have tied up on land. It makes me reconsider how I could maximize the returns on those assets.
The most valuable thing I receive from my five land plots is the 15% rShare bonus by being part of the Runeguard with 5 Runi working on each of my 5 plots. Without the rShare bonus I receive from land, I would be completely uninterested about this part of the game. As it is, I barely even remember to do my land harvest at the conclusion of each brawl cycle. Thank goodness the Tier 5 brawl rewards are still coming in thick!
Like I said at the top, S142 wasn't particularly flashy, but it was another strong return for the time and resources put into the game. Combining the 10771 SPS earned from rewards and 10198 SPS earned from tournaments, yields a total of 20969 SPS earned over the full S142. Anything over 20K SPS certainly grabs my attention and feels like a win for me! Based on today's SPS spot price of 0.0082 USD, my S142 earnings are valued around $172. Not bad for a few weeks of exciting TCG play. Bring on Uptober and the 2025 crypto bull run. I am ready!

Of course, thank you for the support of my Splinterlands content!
It's impressive from my point of view 😀 I'm far from these figures, but then I'm a “small player”... Have a great week
Thanks mate. Always excited for the end of the season and using all the glint to unlock new reward cards. I never thought of myself as a "big player" but I guess it is time to face the facts... I just love collecting cards!
