đź‘‹ Hello Hive!
My day was a quiet but productive and exhausting one. Although, I would say it was quite unhealthy too since I didn’t step outside my door to my dorm room, not even to take a peek outside.
There was also an End of the Semester Suya Carnival on campus this evening, and I have refused to admit, until now, that I would have loved to attend. Not just because of the Suya, but because it would have been a great opportunity to step out and unwind after the intensity of the just concluded first-semester exams.
What’s Suya? 🍢
If you don’t know, suya is a traditional Hausa delicacy, primarily from Northern Nigeria but is widely enjoyed across West Africa, that can be made from different meats (beef, chicken, ram), though beef suya is the most common. You would usually find vendors grilling this staple in the evenings and late at night.
I don’t know when it was decided that suya works best as street food, but Nigerians are lowkey obsessed with it, and for good reason. Although you can get it at restaurants anytime, there’s something about the street-style experience that makes it even better. The experience of watching it grilled, wrapped in newspaper, and served with sliced onions, tomatoes, and cabbage adds to its appeal. There’s a special spice blend used for garnishing that effortlessly ties the taste together—without it, you would just be eating thinly sliced regular grilled meat.
But yeah! That’s what I missed today. Free suya, courtesy of Love World Campus Fellowship and the Student Union Government (SUG).

Why I Stayed In 🚪
There had to be a good reason for not attending, right?
Well, we just resumed our second semester, and as a final-year student, I have been gearing up to defend my project proposal. I spent most of my day making adjustments, corrections, and wrapping up the first three chapters so that by Monday, I can head to a cyber café for printing ahead of the submission and defense.
So yeah, a productive but boring and tiring day.
My Heartwarming Hive First Post Experience ❤️
But one thing that made my day fulfilling was Hive.
My first post received such a warm welcome that it left me astonished and truly grateful. The kindness and acceptance from everyone here are heartwarming, and honestly, this alone can make up for missing all the suya in the world.
How About Your Day? 🗓️
How was your day? Did you step out and do something fun, or did you spend it indoors like me?
With gratitude,
