Yesterday was partly a busy day for me and many members of my family, most especially my extended family relations. We have been preparing for the Burial of one of our relatives which is currently being held today. Several meetings were held, all to make sure that everything concerning today will go smoothly. Most of the hard work was done by the youths yesterday, even clearing of the compound where the event is going to take place. Today there isn't much to do for some people but as for me, I was given the authority to be in the store where all the drinks which will be served in the ceremony are kept. My duty is to confirm every order and signature signed from the table where the family of the deceased were seated before giving out any drinks.
Sometimes there will be much order from the table and me and the partner assigned to me as a member of the family will be busy in giving out drinks assigned to the different families that came for the Burial ceremony.
This continued until it was time for the Anglican church priest to give a little sermon and pray. At Least it allows a little time for everyone who is actively working to make sure everything is going according to rest for a while. The sermon today is one that is quite touching and a lot of things were explained most especially on the areas where people are getting confused on things about life.
A lot of people came today but I especially love the way everything was organized and everyone had to stay under the canopies provided. If not for the provision of canopies no one would be able to stay more than thirty minutes before leaving because today's weather seems to be more harsh than yesterday when we were digging the grave. The temperature today must have doubled the one of yesterday because even though I was inside the store which seemed to have good ventilation yet my body was raining balls of hot sweat which was constantly dripping down my entire face, hands and I could have it also inside.
Somehow sitting outside the store under the store shade while the sermon was going on seemed to be a better place because the heat was unbearable. What can I say, people are in grief today but the sun's heat became an issue of concern. Honestly I've not really considered much of what is said about ozone layer depletion but from what I'm seeing, I think it has gone far beyond the level of asking questions. This sun is no longer shining, it's burning. That is the same reason why somehow I'm confused and my reasoning is that that the same sun burns here and scourge everything left under the sun is the same that shines in other parts of the world where snow falls and yet the snow deposited stays a long time before melting away.
How could there be any snow deposits in western Africa with this kind of weather? It can't even form in the atmosphere to withstand the harsh weather before touching the ground. Above all things I'm grateful that today's event went on smoothly and there was no troubles or confusion, maybe for the presence of the military personnels and bouncers. I was dedicated to my duty and I tried the best I could to make sure that everyone who needed a drink gets something suiting to gulp down.
After everything which was done in the ceremony today, my happiness is that it ended well and there was no fight or confusion as it used to be on some other occasions.
This is exactly how I spent most part of my day today, thank you very much for stopping by to see my post.

This sounds like a really busy and emotional day for you and your family. Organizing a burial must be very difficult, especially when making sure everything goes smoothly. It’s amazing how the youths took charge of the hard work like clearing the compound. Your role in managing the drinks sounds really important too because making sure guests are served properly is a big responsibility. The part about the Anglican church priest’s sermon sounds really interesting. It must have been comforting to hear words that help people understand life better, especially during such a sad event.
The way you described the sun’s heat makes it feel like it was extremely unbearable! It’s kind of scary to think about how the temperature keeps rising. Do you think there are ways to make such outdoor events more comfortable in the future? Maybe using more fans or coolers?
Thanks for your kind comment. Most times when our family plans an event we order for multiple number of fans to be in each canopy because some will be coming home from different countries especially in cold regions but it slipped from our mind this time around. Five years ago a fkrend of my brother who had come home with him from UK fainted immediately after church service for the wedding back then. All the while before he fainted, he was sweating profusely.
Sorry much for your loss. It seems you really worked for the funeral service to run well. Delivering my sympathy.
Thank you ♥
Welcome. Have a great day.
Thanks, you too.
