Hello mga ka-Hive. I am back. I have been in hiatus for weeks as we got busy with work. It is finally October and I want to share with you about how my first week of October went.
Wednesday, October 2
I took a run after work as I always do.
It was my schedule for my tempo run, which means a run with a pace faster than my usual. Just before the end of my shift, a colleague suddenly approached me and asked if she could join me on my run. I happily said yes. I used and love to run alone but it also feels great running with a company.
When the bell rang signifying the end of shift, I immediately wore my running outfit and we went straight to city hall sidewalk. Since I had a company who is a newbie, I adjusted my pace to her so that she won't be having a hard time.
Look how beautiful the sky was during our run.
We ran for 5 kilometers then we decided to have our dinner at a certain shawarma restaurant. It was a friend of mine from a different office who joined us in our run, discovered that restaurant through facebook. As a food lover, I did not hesitate to have our dinner there. It was also timely that I saw a facebook post about shawarma and I was craving for it.
It was around 6 in the evening when we finished our 5 kilometer run. We changed our clothes and off we went to the shawarma restaurant. The place seemed familiar. I remembered passing it when I and my colleague was looking for a place to eat for dinner last year. I was excited to try their shawarma as my friend said that it looked delicious in the video.
The place is called Javapitz Shawarma.
It is somewhat like a container van but two storey. The second floor is for dining area while the orders taken and made are in the ground floor. We immediately made our order and after some time scrolling the menu. They don't just offer shawarma, they also have fries, nachos, hotdogs and sandwiches. As for beverages, they serve shakes. Without any hesitation, I went for the beef pitawarma. My friend wanted to try their chicken and rice meal and I encouraged her to try it. As to me, my mind was fixed on the shawarma as it was what I was craving for. But then she made up her mind and chose the order same as mine. We also ordered mango shake for me and cookies and cream shake for her.
Their menu.
After paying our orders, we went to the second floor. After placing our things on our seats, we did some catch up as it has been days since our last meet. I found out that she took the licensure examination for teachers last September 29. I was shocked and happy at the same time. She did not disclose it to anyone yet. She then proceeded to narrate her experience before and during the examination.
Of course, a photo together should not be a miss.
Minutes after, our orders arrived and we excitingly devoured it. And it did not disappoint. The shawarma is meaty and savory. It is better and cheaper than Leylam shawarma. It only costs 89 Php yet its serving size is big compared to Leylam. Now I have a new restaurant to go to whenever my cravings for shawarma kicks in. There mango shake is just so-so, it is just an artificial flavor.
Our order.
Our stomachs were already full with just one shawarma and we were all smiles when we decided to go home.
Thursday, October 3
I was supposed to run on that day as per my schedule however, I did not feel like running. So, I decided to skip it. While driving my way home, I was thinking where to have my dinner and just when I reached the public plaza, I decided to dine at Braddex. It is a famous dimsum restaurant in Cebu yet I have not tried it on my years of stay there. Now that it has opened a branch in my city, why not give it a try. They just opened last week of September and I have been meaning to try it.
The place is located at the public plaza beside the tennis court.
It is very accessible. As I entered into restaurant, you will be welcomed by their counter where you make your order. Their food are affordable and student friendly.
I just ordered beef steamed rice and empress roll, it is a steamed ground pork wrapped in cabbage. Right when I paid my order, it was already available in their service area. I took them and seated at a vacant table near the window.
I just silently ate my steamed rice and my empress roll. It tasted like the normal steamed rice I had at other dimsum restaurant. Honestly, there is nothing special to it. But the empress roll was delicious. It was my first time trying it and I think it will be a permanent order soon.
After finishing it all, I drove my way home. I was supposed to buy ice cream at an ice cream store across the public plaza however, their available flavor that time was cookies and cream, my least favorite flavor (please forgive me, to those cookies and cream lovers). So it was a pass.
Basically, those were the highlights of the first week of my October. I could pretty much say that it started pretty well and I am praying for a good month just like my September. I could not believe that we're almost through with the year 2024. January just felt like yesterday and it has time lapsed to this month. I hope that these last three months will be full of good plot twists. Twists to remember the year. I also pray the same for you too. May we have a good October and a good plot twists.
