Winter Was A Beautiful Season!

in Daily Blog19 hours ago

These few days between Christmas and New Year are a kind of no man's land, like a strip of land on the border between two countries, a land seemingly without a master or with two masters, a not very pleasant place to be. This is how I perceive them at the moment. In the past it was different. Certainly, this perception is influenced by age and condition. Well, the age is old and the condition is not too good!

These days I'm talking about, I feel the fatigue of a whole year and I would like to rest and do nothing, at the same time, there is a lot to do to celebrate the new year, a magical moment in childhood and somewhat less desirable in old age, when I am not so happy about the passing of the years.

In the past, we celebrated Christmas with family and friends. Over the years some friends have passed and the family has changed too. Children have grown up, friends have grown old...

It's good to have few but good friends. Our best friends, who live out of town, invited us one of these days.

This is a tradition in Romania and probably everywhere Santa Claus comes. Lots of eating and drinking! I mean primarily where there are no children.

For a while now I don't eat much and I don't drink much either, although I would like to, but I know that if I exceed a certain measure, the feeling of sickness will surely exceed the pleasure.

I prefer now, more than ever, a nice conversation in front of the fireplace.

A conversation with friends always leads to memories. The presence of the Christmas tree automatically leads to childhood memories. The most beautiful Christmas was in childhood when I still believed in Santa Claus.

All stories about childhood, Christmas, and Santa Claus have an identical setting.

Snow!

It was one of the joys of childhood.

Not anymore. For the last ten years, there has been no Christmas snow.

If someone asks me what has happened during my lifetime, there were many: man walked on the moon, communism disappeared, at least in Europe, the internet was invented, but I will say that I was contemporary with climate change and the disappearance of winter in Romania.

Of course, winter hasn't disappeared completely, but it has shrunk and lost its strength. The climate I was born and lived for more than half a century, continental temperate, is turning into the Mediterranean.

This is my little backyard, these few days before the New Year.

I've already had plants flowering in the middle of winter for several years.

Many regret the snow this winter holiday season. I don't want to be a hypocrite and say I'm glad because I like the Mediterranean climate.

However, it is not yet a settled Mediterranean climate, it will probably be many decades before it stabilizes.

I won't see those times, that's for sure.

Christmas memories remain. Always with the snow and the joy of looking out the window and seeing the whole yard and the trees white.

Winter was a beautiful season!

I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words...

Since we all love photography, let’s explore the captivating details captured in these photos.!

A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I don't think so.

It depends on the viewer.

Hi, how are you? I'm Esperanza, a Venezuelan living in Argentina, very talkative, I make the preamble because I have several things to tell you.
I loved your presentation especially that of an informed pessimist, I think I'm going to quote you from now on very often. Second I am sorry that you have known the snow and today you do not have it anymore, I long to know it, I have the dream of making an angel on the ground and the snowman even if my hands freeze, I hope to have life and strength to be able to do it.
Life changes. I was reading you and thinking about how timeless every moment is and that many times we don't take it into account until we realize how much everything has changed, I'm not saying this because it's your case, but reflecting in general.
I also thought while reading you how good it is to have the photos that have that particularity to relive those magical moments and if you have even a little company to share with you their perception of those memories, I would also enjoy that pleasant conversation in front of the fireplace that I do not have because in Latin America it is not customary, but I made me one of cardboard and decorate it for Christmas.
I hope that this 2025 will surprise you with very pleasant moments that will feed your soul.

What a beautiful snowy Christmas, but it is true that it is very cold, although the landscapes look great. Time passes and the earth is cyclical, it will all come back, I suppose at some point. It remains to enjoy the day to day and enjoy the little big things. Beautiful pictures!

Thank you!
That's right, the Earth changes cyclically, in very large cycles and we can only see a small part of it.

I really can feel the Christmas Spirit in your words and I like It. Just to know, "Lots of eating and drinking!" Is the same here in Italy during these days. 💕

Thanks, glad you saw that.

About food, we Romanians pride ourselves on our Latin origin, so it's only natural that we resemble the other Latins.

I can feel the spirit of christmas while watching your post and while reading your posts.Such a dream Christmas for me.Thank you for sharing it really mades my day :)
