the Slow Life.

in Daily Blog3 days ago (edited)

I'm living slowly. Intentionally. Rock by rock & one small step after another.

The most important part of this process is enjoying the moment. Being present is something I have struggled with as a lifelong day dreamer. I am always looking towards the future.

Now I am just trying to look at the view in front of me.

And be grateful for how far I have come, even if there is still so far to go.

That is the thing about a DIY build ~ there is always something still to do. My partner and I are just starting out with the construction of small house and workshop. It can be so overwhelming to go over the to do list that lays ahead.

It can be so discouraging when I compare my progress with that of others: those who have been homestesding for years or who were able to buy a home already built.

I have to stop those thoughts as soon as they come into my mind. So what if they have more & faster? They probably have more stress too.

I trade stress for:

Time to cultivate a slow life to go with the slow and steady progress of my life.

I trade a fast paced schefule for:

A life where I can stop to smell flowers and collect quartz crystals I see along the ground.

And, in true Argentine fashion, I enjoy a life with many breaks for mate and tea against the backdrop of everything we have built so far.
