🥩🥔 For our staff meal dinner tonight, I made some steak and potatoes. Used a relatively cheaper meat which is Brazilian beef and got the ribeye.
Though it's a ribeye, it's not as tender as other better quality beef like Angus beef. But it'll do and it was still a yummy dinner! Definitely still hits the spot when you're craving some beef and if you're like me, on a budget.
🇫🇷🥩 I made steak au poivre which is basically a black pepper sauce with shallots and fortified wine. I used Lillet Blanc as we had that in hand and simply cooked the steaks with salt and pepper then basted with garlic, butter and thyme.
For the sauce, I used 2 types of peppercorns - black peppercorns and pink peppercorns which have a slight citrus note.
The potatoes of the dish were onion and sour cream jacket potatoes. Oven roasted the potatoes for an hour at 180 degrees Celsius then Sautéed some shallots with butter and mixed it with sour cream and chives.
The potatoes were delicious and paired with the amazing au poivre sauce and beef steak, it was a hearty and satisfying meal.
