My near death experience

in Daily Blog3 years ago

Good day Hivers,
it has been awhile here on this space.
After a stressful day at work yesterday, my colleague and I decided to go for a drink. We just wanted to calm our nerves and unwind from the stress of the day's work. Working for 12 hours at a stretch isn't a child's play.
Before we left, we agreed to just have two bottles each and go home so we can prepare for the next day's work. I dont know if i should say unfortunately or fortunately for us. As you read on, you may decide which it should be for us.
Back to my story, my colleague met some old friends from his university. He hasn't seen them for 12years according to him. We all sat down and everyone did catch up. Well, i eould say that this was when the party started.
It was from one bottle to the other, and our plans changed automatically. We left the bar at about 7pm ready to go home. However, we soaked with beer and very drunk. My colleague and I were contemplating on who would drive. After much back and forth we settled for him to drive. Reason being that I took 7 bottles and he took 6 bottles. How silly it was of us to have decided that one was better to drive because he drank less with a difference of one bottle.
Seriously I could not feel my legs and I was very tired and wished I was home already and in bed. For the first time in my life, I wished I was a bird and had wings to fly home immediately.
We headed home. What I could remember was that the breeze blowing us was as if it was from an industrial fan which was facing us directly. I wasn't sure if it was speed or just normal breeze. Well, we both wanted to be home so we could catch some good sleep and at least rest for a long while before the next day.
We hit a truck that parked on its own.

We later learnt that the truck was spoilt and was parked waiting for a tow vehicle to come tow it away from the road. We were lucky to have come out alive. Immediately that accident happened, I don't know how the drunken state we both were in, just left us immediately.

I have never been in an accident like this before. It was a miracle. Everyone said we were lucky to have come out of the scattered vehicle alive and miraculously we came out without being hurt.

Is this how miracles work? Alot went through my mind while I was looking at the accident spot. I had so many questions wandering in my head. Like, Why I got so drunk and followed my drunk friend instead of taking a cab. Why will somebody park a spoiled truck without a road sign? If there was a road sign, with the way we were even driving, would we have seen it by the way?

I have told myself that drinking has ended for me. Our lives are too precious and irreplaceable,. We were too careless and this would have caused us our lives.
I know someone reading this will say that drinking isn't bad, even the Bible said. "Take a little for stomach sake" . Yes, I totally agree but over drinking can kill and cut short our precious lives short, causing pains for the people left to mourn us, especially our loved ones.
A little carelessness can kill or destroy our lives. I hope everyone learns from my story and mistake. I have looked at the pictures of the accident scene over and over again and I keep telling myself that I have officially stopped drinking. Anyone who sees the pictures hardly believes that we came out alive and unhurt.
God is really faithful.

I guess He spared us so we can tell the story . Probably to tell my fellow Hivers my story so we can all give God the glory .
Thank you Jesus.

Thank you Jesus indeed because that car was crushed! 😮
An Uber could’ve been a better option or one friend would’ve stayed sober enough to drive.
Thankfully nothing fatal happened phew

God is so kind.
Thanks

That was a costly mistake friend
Drunk and driving is very very wrong but thank God who saved your life indeed.
Next time, you can just call a cab and leave the car under the care of the restaurant or bar... It's better

Thanks alot.
We learn daily
I have officially stopped drinking

Wow.. This is a miracle. Glory to God

God is forever faithful even in our unfaithfulness
