Keeping Secrets in a Loud World

in Daily Blog19 days ago

Hello everyone :).

We live in a time where social media is the norm. If you don’t post about it, did it even happen?? Getting a bunch of likes, comments, shares is like therapy to some people and lifts their ego to the roof. It shows people care and want to engage with your content.

We’re surrounded by constant pressure of getting the perfect insta pic that will get you thousands of likes—feeds that update by the second, people oversharing every detail of their lives, and algorithms rewarding constant exposure? But somewhere in all that noise, we’ve forgot about the value of privacy. It’s so powerful, to keep things for ourselves. “Move in silence” or so they say :). There’s also a thought that people throw evil eyes at you because of envy and jealousy.

Not every moment needs to be documented. Not every opinion needs to be posted. And not every part of your life has to exist online!!!!!

I used to be like that. I would post every second day of the week and I had this color/aesthetic coordinated “insta theme” going on. Insta stories? Like 5 a day🤣. After a while I noticed how it’s draining my energy and I stopped. I knew to log out or deactivate my profile for a week or two and I noticed such a positive change. These days I can go months without posting a picture. I used to struggle with comparing myself to other people and it only brought me bad.. I’m working on fixing it :)!

It’s tempting. When something exciting or beautiful happens, the first instinct is to share it. And that feels good, it connects us. But other times, it creates pressure. We start living for the likes instead of the moment. And slowly, we blur the line between what’s truly ours (and should be kept private) and what’s content.

There’s this level on social media where you need to prove yourself in a way? And I keep seeing people fall into it and it it ruins them.

I’ve been thinking a lot about that balance. About what it means to protect your peace in a world that thrives on attention and bad vibes.

Because what we post is there forever. Even when we delete it, it’s stored somewhere out there. I don’t like when people post pictures of their kids online, there’s so many weird people online and the dangers that carries is insane. I wish people used social media more responsibly😞.

You don’t owe the internet your every thought, your every joy, your every struggle. Sure there’s good sides to it too!! I met so many nice people online that I’m so thankful too! Hive is really cool tho :), so far there’s no pressure to be “perfect” or to look good in a photo to get likes, quality content is more valued which I respect :). People actually take the time to write a quality post and that showcases a genuine care(?).

So here’s your gentle reminder:

It’s okay to log off :)!

It’s okay to keep parts of your life offline.

And it’s okay to protect your story until you decide it’s ready to be told.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Thank you for upvoting, reblogging & commenting. It is greatly appreciated :)❤️!

Well said, very well.

Your actions, online presence included, are always your decision and responsibility.

And it’s your choice to be quiet, to go away, to switch off, and there is no blame nor shame to it.

Nothing is personal.

Exactly!
And I keep seeing influencers share literally everything and then the media and the people twist their words and make mean comments about them. Yeahh… no thanks😬. I’d rather keep it private 😅
