Good morning Hivers! I am back again after 2 years disappearing ;-D. A lot of things happened in these years.
Our guinea pig Zhygard died ☹. He was 6 years old. We gave him all the love we could. From lots of quality hay to fresh veggies and pellets everyday! We greet him every morning and he will greet us back in guinea pig language. We miss him a lot! Especially his popcorning! During his life me and my kids found out we were allergic to him. We kept him regardless our allergy. Now he rests in peace together with his brother Rocky in our front yard....
After guinea pigs I wanted to have another pet so badly! But I wasn’t sure what pet. A cat or a dog? A cat leaves lots of hair and the poop really stinks! So we decided to have a look at the biggest parrot shop of the Netherlands... We just wanted to have a look. I was thinking of a pink cockatoo. Never I had the intention to buy a parrot that same day! My oldest son was pointing to a green medium size bird who was looking at us all the time. He said: “Mama, it would be soo sad if we wouldn’t leave this shop without him. You see, he is looking at us all the time!”
Well, he convinced me! I bought the entire package! From bird to cage, toys and food and of course a manual. As soon we arrived I couldn’t wait to take him out of cage. According to the manual we should leave him couple of days in the cage and give him a full bowl of seeds... Ofrcourse I didn’t listen to those rules. I took him out the next day and he was already flying to us. I also google about his food. Seems like seeds aren’t good at all for our Amazon parrot. So I decided to give him fresh food and cooked him dinner.
He loves homemade food and now he never eats seeds! We make his cage a super duper fun exploring cage so he would never feel bored. Of course to take him out everyday. Every morning we have our routine. I exercise with him, give my plants water while my parrot is on my finger or shoulder and mist him. Ohh! I forgot to tell you, his name is Pucca! He is 1 year old. So still quite young. He doesn’t bite me anymore like he used to. He does like to bite my husband and my sons. But he also let them pet and him and they are allowed to give him head scratches. Meanwhile, I am not really allowed to give him head scratches. What would you choose? To be bitten but are allowed to give head scratches or never be bitten but not allowed to give head scratches ?:-D .
I'm very sorry about the guinea pig, I'm happy your back from the break, I can see your a lover of pets just like me. This is wonderful write up.
Thank you. Yes, I love animals very much.
