Yesterday, my entire farm was completely free of snow. Well, save for the back hill with its north slope situation, the snow banks there tend to not fully melt until after the daffodils bloom, but regardless, there was nary a bit of frozen liquid floof in sight.
This morning was another story. That's the thing about North Idaho, I don't get truly excited about spring until mid-April most years. Winter has a way of clinging on.
I envision the season like this:
To be completely honest, even though I ordered some garden seeds last week, and in a few short weeks I will be starting plants, I was not completely sad to wake up to a blanket of fresh snow.
Yesterday, was flying rodent fecal matter insane. I had to make multiple trips to town because it was the kitties spay and neuter appointment day, and as is the way of Kat-things, I couldn't just have one thing to deal with. Nay, I got like 50. The hub's drama with his shooting team reached its apex, I had college work to do, I had fifty cupcakes to frost because the ceremony we decided to throw for his off to the Olympics competitive shooter was last night, I had to make a return trip to town to pick up the kitties, there was a tense meeting that sprung up right before the festivities that had to be arranged and documented, and the LIST GOES ON!
I actually fell asleep sitting up while taking a brief pause to wait for a phone call.
But you know what? Yesterday was also amazing! Right in the middle of it all I got the most amazing health care news! There was some concern I might have the big C word in the ol' butterfly gland, and I don't! Which is awesome! I got that news as I was driving to pick up my surgery kitties. In fact, I was so elated that I blew a kiss to the really hateful old dude who didn't understand how four way stops work. YAY!
So yes, the blanket of fresh snow fits my current vibe. It's a new day, and today, aside from doing a couple homework assignments, I am going to rest. The rearing of Winter's head provides me with a external reason to embrace that. After I post this I am going to fold a bit of laundry, grab my James Rollins thriller about alien coral and deep sea trenches, and plop my tired carcass next to the fire for a bit of a reprieve.
Because as we all know, the seasons never fail to change, and even though it's all white and frosty outside my windows, I know before long spring will arrive, and I intend to be well-rested.
Or at least that's the story I am telling myself these days😉
That was certainly good news on the medical front. The snow sure is pretty, but that extra 6" yesterday was somehow depressing. It has been an odd winter, and I am ready for it to end, even though it may linger for another month. Today is my day to kick back, at least that's my plan. I'm baking bread, which isn't labor-intensive, and hope to work on my photo album. And take a nap.
Your day sounds amazing! I could definitely use a day like that! With school, the hub's coaching stuff, and the impending trip to Vegas for Regionals, I am a little more scheduled than I would like, so the no is going to be deployed. Plus, I like baking bread too lol!
And yes, this winter has been a bit weird. I looked at the long term forecast though, and it's looking like this may have been it's last slapping, but as we both know it could return for months...

What good news! I bet the neutering slowed them down for a little while…. I tried to rest and read and fell asleep….
I am truly relieved, and the fixing did slow them down for approximately 24 hours. Then they tried to get all wild, and for some reason didn't listen to me when I told them no zoomies for at least a week lol!

Thanks Hetty! I meant to send a very big thought hug to you a couple days ago, but life has been super extra lately and it feels like I am just sitting down for the first time in days! We have another fresh blanket of snow, and I am smiling while I type this because my son is outside the window flying around in the flakes on his snowmobile lol!

Do you make cakes and also frosting cupcakes for a living or you’re just good at it and that’s why you want to make it for the Olympics?
Every summer I am a professional baker at our local theme park and make all manner of pastries, cookies, and cakes for the ten thousand guests who visit the park every day, but most of the year I just make goodies for people I love, even those who happen to be attending the Olympic training center😊
