And I am back. Phew, let me tell ya, the bakery gig is kicking my flintlocks. But! I only have nine work days to go left in the season! The ten to twelve hour non-stop bake-a-thons are coming to an end!

An interesting side effect of baking so much many of the days a week at the park is that I get up and well, I start baking. The hubs isn't sad about this compulsion at all. Honestly, I don't feel like the day is commencing right and good unless I am mixing up something and popping it into the oven.

Yes, I already know I am weird.

I mean, while I whipped up a batch of blueberry scones this morning, I also sang a splendid rendition of my current ear worm of the moment, *"Highway to the Danger Scone." It's a pretty catchy tune.

You see, I had to do something to revitalize my vibe, as Jojo the Void of Darkness started out my day with a scene of horror. I walked out of my room bright and early this morning, stumbling a bit because the hubs and I went out and threw ourselves upon a blanket in the yard to take in some Perseids in the middle of the night last night (much cool), when I walked upon a scene of Nature Is Metal proportions.

Jojo was savaging a small fluttering organism, which turned out to be the most precious hummingbird ever. I promptly seized the creature and placed it in my begonia planter. It was pretty traumatized and most probably damaged internally, but dangit, at least I gave it a chance.

My cat was not repentant at all, not that I expected her to be, and I gave her a bunch of treats and food to sate the inner instinctual kill everything drive. Heathen.

Anyway, back to scones. I can make scones in my sleep apparently. Okay, I can make lots of things. In fact, I am somewhat of a baker consultant these days. Last night, before we went out to watch the meteors plummet through the atmosphere, I instructed my dear friend in Kenya in the fine art of brownie making. Apparently I know things, at least in regard to baking. It's sorta weird because when I take in any form of media I find myself feeling very unknowing, or at least that is the message that is purveyed.

But that is material for a different post.

Right now, the hubs is happily munching on a fresh from the oven blueberry scone and I am thinking about all of the chores I have to accomplish today, on my first day off since last week. It's weird because I really don't feel like doing anything, which is probably due to the fact that I head back to college next Monday.

But, paper writing sounds far more sedate that walking fifteen thousand steps a day in a tiny kitchen making brownies, pastries, croissants, cinnamon rolls, cookies, and other things.

My life is rad.

And as most of the time, all of the images in this post were taken on the author's also glazed with a cream and sugar glaze iPhone.

Did the hummingbird make it?

Wow! You could make scones in your sleep! I would love to learn to make scones and cup cakes!
The cat must be very happy and quite spoiled!

You’d be a good teacher if I decide to learn this from you
It looks yummy!

Now, blueberry scones is something I can make, too, and really should. Inspiration...
