I have some nerve damage in my right ribs. I have what is called “right intercostal neuritis.” Although I am in recovery, I am on my third day of taking strong medications. I have decided that I will do some major activity today, even if I get out of the daily routine and then have to go back to bed rest.
I decide to harvest my curcuma plants to prepare my spice for meals in powder form. Every year I plant curcuma and after a few months, 7 to 8 months, I harvest the root and start my process to prepare it for meals.

Last year I planted ginger and curcuma, the cats trampled my plants so I had to figure out how to keep the cats from destroying my plants.

I proceeded to enclose the plants in a net and put dry logs around them, it was the most efficient way to scare away the stray cats that bothered my plants.
That's how, without realizing it, the Curcuma plants that did not bloom began to dry out and I wondered why. I proceeded to stick my hands into the stems of the plant in the soil and I felt that they had hard roots. That is why they are drying out. Even though they didn't bloom like in other years the root was ready for harvest and so I did.

The beginning of the cleaning is the most tedious, it is a root that stains the hands. You could use gloves but I don't get used to wearing them. So my hands get stained when washing all the dirt that these roots have. You also have to scrape the soft skin off and then proceed to cut them into small pieces up to one cm in diameter.
Then I place them on a tray and bake them until I see that they are dry. This is when I remove them from the oven and wait for them to air out. Then they go into a grinder or blender and are reduced to an orange-colored powder.

Prepare your nose to perceive the strong smell of Curcuma when it is drying in the oven.
When it is very well crushed, just wait a few more minutes for the powder to settle and come out when you uncover it.
That's it!
I put it in a small container and from there I will take it out little by little. Every time I cook my meats I will put a little of this tasty, beautiful, and nutritious spice, Curcuma root.

Now I am ready to go to bed again because the pain in the side of my back is growing. My son has had to help me several times because I get stuck with the pain, but I was able to finish my homework for today.
Thank you for joining me and reading my post on this preparation, which is the only thing I have been able to do all day. Until I get better soon.
