Por ejemplo, hoy el calor está terrible, ya comenzó el verano y este sí que se hace sentir en el llano que es donde me encuentro. Añoro la lluvia y la brisa fría que embellece y reverdece el ambiente.

En estos días del año es bastante común ver como abunda en mi ciudad y en muchas otras partes del país, el monte seco en los terrenos baldíos y también en los grandes patios de las casas, por lo que algunas personas ven como más fácil quemar el monte y hasta la basura que generan, sin pensar lo que esto puede ocasionar. Este es uno de los temas que más retumba en los medios de comunicación virtual locales porque a diario se ven muchos incendios en diferentes partes de la ciudad, unos ocasiones por la misma naturaleza a raíz del inmenso sol que hay en esta época y otros por la mano inescrupulosa del hombre inconsciente.

El día de ayer parecía muy tranquilo, aunque cuando se vive en apartamento nunca falta algo que marque la diferencia. Siempre surge un evento que nos saca al pasillo, por lo que este día no fue la excepción. Entre el calor y el ajetreo de los quehaceres del hogar me encontraba cuando eran apenas las once de la mañana, mi hijo mayor salió hacer unas compras y de regreso me comenta que estaban unos vecinos tratando de apagar la candela cerca de los edificios, en el momento entendí la razón del calor más intenso.
Yesterday seemed very quiet, although when you live in an apartment there is always something that makes a difference. There is always an event that brings us out into the hallway, so this day was no exception. Between the heat and the hustle and bustle of household chores I was when it was just eleven in the morning, my eldest son went out to do some shopping and on his way back he told me that some neighbors were trying to extinguish the candle near the buildings, at the time I understood the reason for the intense heat.
A todas estas continué en mis labores y cuando llegó la hora de servir el almuerzo, escuché un escándalo de los vecinos que gritaban que retiraran los carros del estacionamiento y cuando me asome al pasillo, logré ver cómo el humo se encontraba en el aire. Viendo lo ocurrido los nervios se apoderaron de mí por lo que alerte a mi grupo familiar, mi sobrino y yo nos apersonamos al lugar a ver la realidad del asunto; pues, las llamas de la candela había tomado buena parte de los árboles que rodean los edificios, unos vecinos ya habían llamado a los bomberos, pero hacía rato y no llegaban, por lo que se me ocurrió tomar fotos para enviarla a una página de Instagram donde colocan las noticias de la ciudad y prestan apoyo a la comunidad Sanjuanera, esto con el fin de obtener ayuda y también de crear conciencia.
I continued with my work and when it was time to serve lunch, I heard a noise from the neighbors shouting to remove the cars from the parking lot and when I looked out into the hallway, I could see how the smoke was in the air. Seeing what happened the nerves took over me so I alerted my family group, my nephew and I went to the place to see the reality of the matter; well, the flames of the fire had taken much of the trees surrounding the buildings, some neighbors had already called the fire department, but they had not arrived for a while, so it occurred to me to take pictures to send it to an Instagram page where they post the news of the city and provide support to the community Sanjuanera, this in order to get help and also to raise awareness.
Todos los vecinos esperábamos que llegara el camión de los bomberos y cuando vemos que llegan a pie dos personas con la vestimenta de bomberos disculpándose por llegar tarde, porque la ruta no pasaba; es decir, no tienen camión y se trasladaron en ruta; por supuesto agua tampoco traían, no tenían nada en las manos, realmente seguíamos igual. Los vecinos continuaban trabajando con perolas y la poca agua que se tenía en los apartamentos, porque ese era el otro problema: prescindíamos del vital líquido.
All of us neighbors were waiting for the firemen's truck to arrive and when we saw that two people in firemen's clothes arrived on foot, apologizing for arriving late, because the route did not pass; that is to say, they did not have a truck and they went by road; of course they did not bring water either, they had nothing in their hands, we were really still the same. The neighbors continued working with buckets and the little water we had in the apartments, because that was the other problem: we were doing without the vital liquid.
Se me ocurrió llamar a mi cunado quien trabaja en Hidropáez con una cisterna, no estaba laborando, pero nos hizo el favor con otro de sus compañeros y cuando el camión llego faltando poco para que el incendio rodeara más de la mitad de los edificios, se pudo controlar el fuego gracias a la ayuda prestada por quienes surten de agua a la ciudad.
It occurred to me to call my brother-in-law who works in Hidropáez with a tanker, he was not working, but he did us the favor with another one of his colleagues and when the truck arrived, just before the fire surrounded more than half of the buildings, it was possible to control the fire thanks to the help provided by those who supply water to the city.
Pasamos un buen susto y fueron momentos de mucha tensión pensando en qué hacer, cómo solucionar, salir o no de los edificios, dejar que las llamas se apoderaran de todo. Fue una situación bastante difícil y más aún cuando la mayoría de los habitantes somos mujeres, adolescentes y niños. Al final del día nos enteramos de que la causa de todo salió de una limpieza que hacían unos hombres y para no embolsar la basura lo que hicieron fue quemarla. Por cosas como esas suceden situaciones muy lamentables, creo que hace falta más conciencia y sentido de pertenencia.
We had a good scare and there were moments of great tension thinking about what to do, how to solve the problem, whether or not to leave the buildings, to let the flames take over everything. It was a very difficult situation and even more so when most of the inhabitants are women, teenagers and children. At the end of the day we found out that the cause of everything came out of a cleaning that some men were doing and in order not to bag the garbage they burned it. For things like that very unfortunate situations happen, I think we need more awareness and a sense of belonging.
