Online teaching semester is over and so is @manujune's treatment for the year. It's been a tough end of the year with all the tensions derived from work, politics, health and family issues combined.
We are thankful, though for the victories and the friends and relatives who have made this journey bearable.
One of those friends, who has been supporting us since @manujune was hospitalized, back in April, had the beautiful gesture of inviting us to watch The Nutcracker at the Rios Reyna Hall, part of the Teresa Careño Theater complex.
We had watched the ballet a couple of times before in other places. In fact, @manujune had played for a local orchestra in Cumaná in one performance last year. However, we had never been to the Teresa Carreño Theater, the most important cultural venue in Venezuela.
My nephew's family was also invited, so we were super excited.
We had tickets for a 5 pm show, but we were advised to arrived early, so we were there by 4;00 PM.
We understood then why. By the time the show was about to start, there were almost three thousand people struggling to have their pictures taken in some of the emblematic areas of the theater and next to some of the performers.
While we waited, we walked around the theater and took some pictures.
It was a sunny and unusually warm day in Caracas. The gardens around the theater are gorgeous and these flowers made them even more so.
Everything looked neat and well taken care of.
Even when it got crowded, people were showing their best behavior.
We had to go to the first floor.
The theater was beautiful.
Quite an impressive view.
Everyone was happy and looking forward to the ballet.
I was particularly happy the little one had the chance to watch the show. It was so moving to see a member of the smart phone generation get hooked by a live performance of musical and dancing magic taking place before her own eyes.
The shows was amazing. The actors, dancers, the orchestra, the lighting, scenery and costumes combines impecably to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Two hours flew and we left walking to my nephew's office where he had parked his car. It was still an unusually warm night for this time of the year in this city and we could not have been happier. Hopefully, this was the first of many culturally enriching experiences. We will see what happens by January 10th. That date will define most of our future lives.
Me alegro de que hayan pasado un rato tan bonito en familia viendo el Cascanueces. Muchas bendiciones para ti y tu familia! Feliz Navidad!
Gracias, @coquicoin
Igualmente. Fue una noche para el recuerdo.
What a wonderful experience! Many years ago, my daughters had the privilege of dancing in The Nutcracker. A traveling ballet troupe would put on performances in various towns and include ballet students from the area. That was very special to watch.
That sounds awesome. I can't imagine what it must feel like for anyone to be part of this kind of show. The audience is always mesmerized.
