My Chinese New Year Eve this time was a super special one. We started the day earlier and full of excitement because we were going to airport to pick my sister and her children. It was her super first time ever celebrating Chinese New Year with us. Her family is residing at up north of Malaysia and due to her work's commitment, it was almost impossible for her to apply leave. This year was extraordinary. She got to apply leave and her husband also approved her of coming to Kuala Lumpur to spend time with her family — once in a blue moon.
Off to airport to pick her!
I was so excited and when we finally met, I was overjoyed. Husband took this photo of us! Look at my sister and her children. Her whole family was always being mistaken as Koreans.🫣
Reaching home...
When we got home, everyone was waiting for them. My brother had brought his family to my house to welcome my sister. When all the cousins met, my house turned upside down. 6 children in my house and total of 8 adults, my house was like theme park — fun and noisy.
Reunion Dinner at my in-laws
At night, I had reunion dinner at in-laws while my own family, the Lee's side had theirs at one Chinese restaurant.
We arrived at my in-laws and saw my niece adorably playing with oranges. My mother-in-law was still in her apron finishing the last dish.
Our spread of food for reunion dinner!
How Sumptuous!!!
Sister-in-law was so brilliant to buy Yee Sang from Sushi King for us. This was even more delicious than the Chinese restaurant one. So, we got to toss and dig and mix the Yee Sang ingredients while blessings one another. Yay!!!!!! Cheers!!!!!
I bought roasted duck for family, whole duck roasted in Hong Kong style also. But this one was not as tasty as the one I ate the day before at Noble Mansion, but everyone thoroughly enjoyed the roasted duck.
My mother-in-law cooked for us her signature otak-otak, a delicacy from Penang, made from steamed fish with egg and coconut milk with fragrance from lime leaves and other spices. Super addictive.
She also cooked for us assam prawns, a Hokkien heritage dish. The prawns were so fresh, fat and juicy. We ate it with our bare hands, carefully peeled the skin, ate the flesh and licked our fingers. Haha.
Last one, she fried for us 'loh bak', also a Penang dish, minced pork wrapped with fu-chuk skin and deep fried. It was so delicious and tasty. The minced pork was marinated with five-spice powder, well seasoned and super flavourful. Yums!!!
Another dish which I didn't take photo was her signature soup boiled using bones, added minced pork, carrots, cabbage, mushrooms and fish maw. That was so palatable and a good combination with all other food. However, you would be able to spot the bowls of soup at some photos.
We ended the night just hanging around with family, the best companion. I got to carry the pretty niece.
The children got to play together while also watching fireworks together. We all got to chitchat without needing to rush home to sleep and it was such a great time spent!
Interesante conocer la cultura china
She's just as pretty as you. Korean or not very hard to tell nowadays. But the whole family skin super fine and looks extremely fair leh. Can really be Korean brand cosmetic ambassador jor 🤣
My nieces and nephews are also my favorite ones after my kid.
That looks like a great family get-together. Food and family - the best combination.
Enjoy 🙌🙌
