Hello everyone. As I mentioned in my previous post, I love spending time with my family by the river. Usually it is the two rivers that flow through my city, Belgrade - the Sava and the Danube. But very often we also go somewhere outside the city, and one of the places we like to visit is the Old Slankamen on the banks of the Danube river.
It is a special place, known for its healing spring of salt water, because of which many people come there for therapies that are suitable for their health and cure various diseases. In addition, this place has great historical value. In some of the previous posts, I wrote about the Acuminkum fortress and the old churches in Slankamen but there are more sights that I discovered this time.
Since we like the fish soup made here, this time we visited Slankamen just for that reason. We expected to just eat, walk a bit and that's all.
But it wasn't like that. When we ate the fish soup at the Mika Alas Tavern, better known as Carda restaurant, my son noticed that the owner of the restaurant was taking the children on a boat and wanted to ask him if he could take us for a ride as well. I told him he could ask him. The host was very kind and said he would be happy to take us on the boat.
There was no end to my son's happiness and my daughter also couldn't wait to get into the boat. The boat ride was very pleasant. I would like to experience it more often because I feel free and relieved of all stress while looking at the water around me and seeing no end.
We looked at the beautiful green landscape around. We saw a lot of cottages too.
When we finished boating, we went for a walk. My son noticed an unusual spot. It looked like a cave but we weren't sure.
We started exploring. This place is quite salty and different soil formations can be seen. Old Slankamen got its name from its salt springs. "Slankamen" comes from the words "salt" and "stone", indicating the presence of salt water and minerals in the area.
This rock formation looked like someone's home.
My son was curious so he climbed up and went inside and I followed him.
My daughter also wanted to peek inside but she liked the sand on the ground she was playing with the most. She is a big fan of sand. 😊
We asked the locals what this place was called, they said a cave, just like that. Although we didn't discover anything interesting inside, I was happy watching my kids explore the surroundings and enjoy it. I love when I take them to different places that inspire them to explore. And I am then very inspired to join them and explore together. The world is much more beautiful when we see it through children's eyes.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.

I can imagine how excited your kids would have been exploring the cave and it's surrounding. Beautiful water bodies you've got there.
They were so excited that I barely convinced them to go home. 😊
That's nice.
