Hi Hive Fam, once again it’s me, the golden child. Welcome to my second post. Today I share with you how I spent my Thursday at work. The day was sunny and as usual I went to buy my breakfast (Waakye). Waakye is a Ghanaian dish with the combination of rice and beans. Waakye is loved in Ghana here. Especially that particular waakye joint has a lot of customers since it is very delicious. You can tell from the picture, the queue at the waakye joint. I mostly buy it on my way to work.I love to eat it for breakfast, in this hard economy, it helps me skip lunch😁
I got to work and I ate it before the bank officially opened for customers that’s 8:30am.
Today was very hectic since it was a Friday and we don’t work on weekends hence customers are mostly choked in the banking hall.
At work, you barely have time for your phone, you are not supposed to use your phone during working hours until you’ve closed. Work officially closes at 4pm for customers. The rest of the time is now our time to balance the cash and lock in the vault. We don’t have a fixed time we close. Days a cashier doesn’t balance due to a wrong transaction or miscounting of money we all have to come together to check the cash and his or her day’s transactions against the vouchers and receipts to be sure it wasn’t over credited or underpaid to a customer or a wrong account number. We call that “call over” at the bank. There’s a monthly roster for that, each person has a partner.
Everyone was fine, we could now go to our various homes. I got home around 7:15pm. I took my shower and ate supper. Because of the stress from work, I slept off whilst watching a movie. The movie is entitled “Friends”. It’s my favorite sitcom. I never get tired of rewatching it. A series that can help you recover from depression. My kids are going to watch it too😘. I solely recommend it to you all.
Once technology advances in your country and people learn to use it, you won't have so many customers and banking will be done online and the level of stress you will need to face will be lower. However, that's not going to be tomorrow though.
Thank you but we do all those online banking, including ATM debit and credit cards 💳. We also have mobile banking were you can use the USSD code by dialing (*4242#) on your phone to check balance, mini statement ,withdrawals, funds transfer and also pay bills. We also have the internet banking using the mobile banking app on your phone with internet connection and it can also perform the same functions. But well some people just still want to come inside the bank to enjoy AC😁, others too are not truly conversant with technology in Africa(the aged and illiterates)
I love waakye soo much for weird reasons I don't take it for breakfast everyday. In school I love it because there is one particular seller who adds plantain which makes me like buying from her. Well, the reason why I don't take it for breakfast is because of how hard the economy is. In school I do the 0 1 1 formation(If you get what I mean🤣). So I mostly have it for lunch and breakfast.
If you got home around 7:15 pm it means you left the bank after 6:30 right? This scares me a lot buddy. Having to go to work as early as 8 and having to get home so late🤣. You barely have time for your self.
I hope you are coping though.
Oh wow never taken it with plantain, didn’t even know people take it with plantain. I’m only aware of jallof rice with fried plantain. Anyway will try it oneday.
I perfectly understand, I also do 1 0 1🤣
I’m coping, Saturdays I wash clothes and if I have to go to the salon then I go. But mostly on Sundays I hangout with friends or take a nap.
oh, you should try it sometime. Its tasty and makes the waakye even more waakyeish🤣
Thats right, I can never do a 1 0 1 because I get hungry in the afternoons no matter how much food I eat.🤣
You are trying, if i was in your shoes I will take the who saturday or sunday to sleep🤣
“Waakyeish” I like the sound of that😂.
I enjoy my sleep mostly after fajr. I fight with my alarm a lot at 6:30am on nights I didn’t sleep early. Weekends I’m supposed to wake up at 12noon right?😂…but my mom won’t let me. Says as a lady are u going to be waking up at that time in ur husband’s home?…u know African mothers.

That waakye joint is very popular. It’s been hyped so much though I haven’t had the chance to eat it yet. Is it that good?
Bankers in our part of the world are very stressed especially when the month is still early or very late.
We’ve still not fully grasped which is making your work difficult cos I imagine you leave your home before 8 and seeing you get home after 7 is really stressful indeed.
I see a lot of shorts of friends on YouTube. I know you have a great taste in movies so I’ll definitely find the time to watch it. There’s no way you give a bad recommendation.😂
Yeah the waakye is popular, I also got to know about it just a year ago when I was doing my service. It’s very nice, sometimes I even take it with only shito, no stew.
Very stressful, especially during salary week or pensioners week or when sch resumes and students come to pay fees, or buy E-voucher forms.
You should watch it. Will recommend more to you and you won’t regret watching them. Movies and music is all I’ve got to run the day man.
The workers at where I do my attachment buy it a lot too but these days they complain about it being too oily.
Movies and good music is all I need too.😂
I’ll link up for more recommendations.
Here in my country, every Friday is a very hectic schedule bank. Whenever I have an important transaction, I always skip Friday and as well as Monday, too, for these days have been the busiest. But good thing you managed your work and time very well, my friend. Have a wonderful time and I hope you are well today.
Wow this tells how u often go to the bank, you seem to know much. You are absolutely right Mondays and Fridays are our busiest days.
Thank you. I’m well, I should be sleeping now coz it 10:26pm in Ghana. Good night
Aww, it is also the same in your place, my friend. You are a beautiful teller in banks. You know, I usually appreciate bank tellers and employees in banks because they are beautiful, just like you. Have a nice day, my friend, and I hope you are well. It is Monday, and I think it will be a very busy day for you.
