When It’s Time, It’ll Bloom

Spring Lives Here Too.......

Mac Property(55).png

There’s one eerie dilapidated house in my neighborhood. It has been abandoned for as long as I’ve lived on this earth. The house used to be my playground and kids in our neighborhood invented a ghost tale about it. Some said there’s a woman living there, unseen snakes and simply all sorts of evil spirits. But, I was barely afraid of it, to me the house looks unique and charming on its own.

Well, I explored the house when I was a kid and there’s a well there. In some cultures, a haunting spirit can come up from the well and pull you in. Scary isn’t it? But at the time, that didn’t scare me at all.

For as long as I remember, the inside of the house itself can be seen through my balcony. But for the last 3 years or so, it has been occupied, not by spirits but lush greenery. It’s almost like a mini urban jungle.

Today, I was walking down the neighborhood after my 30 minute walk and saw some trumpets looking like flowers blooming so beautifully. I didn’t take pictures of it as I was rushing home and somehow forgot about it. Till I saw flowers all around the snaps it reminded me that in some parts of the world, spring has come.

In particular it was the @justclickindiva snap that made me jump out of my chair, grab my camera and explore the house again, just from the outside. These days, the house is protected by huge plants owned by one of my neighbors. So, I was using the camera zoom to capture and click the flowers that bloom.

You see, we don’t have spring here but the plants and flowers here live as if they have their own 4th season. From November-March, this house looks eerie and dull. The plants withers, there are no butterflies, no flowers, just withering leaves falling from its biggest and tallest tree in that house. Then, late april, they started to bloom, the house was alive once again, reminding us that they exist, among us.

It asks us to look at its direction.

Our bougainvillea is starting to bloom as well. This one is my favorite flower that adorns our surroundings. They're a great object especially during April to July. I always feature them in my blog as well.

These things remind us that when it’s time it’ll bloom. I don’t know about you but as someone who reflects a lot, little things in life always feels like a reminder. These flowers and their bloom cycle simply reminds me to give it a time, for things shall pass.

“ To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; – Ecclesiastes 3:1,3”

That specific verse and the following verses talk about these time cycles. It’s such a powerful reminder, especially when you’re going through life’s challenges and difficulties.

A Morning Coffee Made by My Mom, with extra love…

Today, I also tried to teach my mom how to make a good pour over coffee. It’s a bonus to me if one day, I become too lazy to make my own coffee. She’ll know how to do it just the way I like it.

I want to constantly encourage my mom, that her spirit should remain young. She’s all I have and time isn’t something I can buy. While I can, I have to spend more time with her in ways that I can and we can. Even this simple thing such as making coffee can be quite a fun and meaningful activity. I want her to experience the beauty life has to offer and do things that she hasn’t been able to do these past two years.

DSC05591[1].jpg

Just look at how she’s almost mastering it 😀

I made us chicken teriyaki for lunch that goes so well with the iced coffee. It’s just like how it’s at a cafe. After lunch though, I need to go back to my desk and that’s when we part ways for the day. At least I won’t be seeing her for the next 10 to 11 hours.

As we have slowly moved on from our grief, we’re trying our best to live our life again. One day at a time. And just like these flowers show us, it’ll bloom and this too all shall pass. Everything has its own time.

I'm like you, small things bring on reflections. More so in my senior citizen years than when I was younger. I thought that I and everyone around me had all the time in the world to do whatever we desired. As you age, you realize that your time is limited. You're truly only guaranteed three score and ten. After that, everything in life is a blessing. I love the scripture you include from Ecclesiastes. So true, and now I feel it much so the seasons of my life. They are distinct as night and day. And I've learned to appreciate each one, because I don't know whether I'll see the next.

Thanks for sharing. I see you and your mom spend quality time together no matter the reason. Take care.

Appreciate your kind support of my engagement.

There's all sorts of things we can learn from the Bible and lately, I find myself back to it. I found peacefulness there and even find my way back :) and yeah, though I am still at the age where I shouldn't worry about all that but having to lose multiple people recently, that shifted my perception about all the seniors in my family. Time is indeed nobody can really buy.

This post gave me cozy, nostalgic vibes. Also, that chicken teriyaki and coffee combo sounds like a dream!💓🥰

😊 It's actually that tasty and easy to make as well. You should give it a try when you have the time to.

A nice read. This is so touching. Grief has its own flow, and healing does too. I admire your strength, even if it’s just one step at a time. Like the flowers, you’re slowly reaching toward the light, and when the time is right, you’ll bloom fully again.🩷

It's really is one step at a time. The more we're rushing it, the harder things will be. Thanks for checking out 😊

Those little moments are so precious. This was such a lovely read, @macchiata ! I adore how you found beauty and reflection in that old house. It’s like nature decided to give it a second life. I also loved the bit about your mom and the pour-over coffee. t

hehe, my mom would be happy to hear this post was well-received😄 I am just trying to spend more time with her, she's not getting any younger.

Hello, @macchiata, good morning

How beautiful the arrival of spring is. I think it's the best season of the year. What beautiful plants and flowers you were able to photograph.

There's always one of those houses where you hear all kinds of legends.

You're doing a great job supporting and encouraging your mom. It's not easy to lose someone you love.

It's never easy losing someone we love. I am doing my best and my part to help my mom moves on :) Thank you for checking this one out.

Greetings friend, how nice that great experience that you share with us and there are always such beliefs or stories that are invented, but in reality they are nothing and that is where the human mind closes and does not let anything. No doubt genius for all that and each of the photos are very nice and sure that in that place there will be things to admire.

hahahaha yeah, usually stories are made to protect a place. It's rarely true but thanks to those stories, a place is still well-preserved and intact.

There are also many such stories around here.

I live by that in Ecclesiastes ... what put it in me so young was losing my grandfather and understanding so young what death was ... it is easier to see things bloom than to see them die, so we must make the most of the bloom time in all things!

Ecclesiastes has all the wisdom one might need. I remember watching that basically that Ecclesiastes is the skeptic among Job, Psalms, Proverbs. I've finished 4th of them and it has so much wisdom one definitely needs in their life. Have a great day Dean :)

In Ecclesiastes, Solomon has tried everything the world has said is good, and found it all vanity ... but returns to this: "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man." That's Ecclesiastes 12:13 -- I leave you to read the very last verse on your own time. Solomon was the skeptic who made the experiment to the fullest extent he could, but comes right back to Job's conclusion, and his father David's conclusion (Psalms), and his own earlier wisdom (Proverbs)!

There are people who read this and find a little zest in their life again, I'm pretty sure. Your reflection is beautifully written here :")

Thank you :)

Your time with your mom, so special! There’s something magical about teaching something new, especially something as sensory and comforting as coffee. That photo of her almost mastering the pour-over made me smile. Last week, we had a cupping session, and mom and a few uncles from the previous generation seemed not to get the point of the tasting. But they could point out which coffees were top-notch.

Thank you for sharing such a personal piece. It’s a lovely reminder to slow down, to notice the flowers, to spend time with those we love. ❤️

hahahah yeah, I can relate to that experience. Actually, I made my mom and my aunt a cupping session too. They certainly couldn't tell all the notes but know the cup with the best coffee. So, even if they're not coffee lovers, they actually can tell the difference.

I hope you'll have awesome time and spring with your loved ones :)
