"Teachers don't just teach, they also guide their students to be empowered for the future "

Good day Hivers! It's me again @madimoire back in Hive to share to you this new blog of mine. This week has been hectic for me since there are a lot of things to do in preparation for the celebration of the World Teachers' Day. It was almost a whole week's celebration since there were a lot of fun and thrilling surprises prepared for the teachers and students like me who aspire to be one of them. I think it was the first time since I studied in this school that I've witnessed how they've prepared for the celebration of Teachers' Week, if I were to recall the past happenings, the body council of education only prepared activities that relate to the teachers, like pampering them with massage, giving them time to relax and then also preparing token of gifts for them. Around this time of the year is a busy schedule for reportings and daily hurdles for the students which is why, for us education students' it's hard to relax. Now, the council has prepared three- a three-day celebration, two days are for Educators' Day and the last one is for World Teacher's Day.

Now, let's go and embark on this journey of reminiscing what had happened these past few days.

Day 1

October 1, 2024, this day marks the start of the three-day celebration and education students are all in hype to celebrate and enjoy activities that are meant to help us unwind and take a breather from the never-ending stress of having classes and surprise quizzes.

Education students were divided into four units, having the council of the education department as their team leaders, each unit must prepare for a yell to proudly represent at the gymnasium, I was one of of the leaders and this stressed me out quite a bit since I don't have any talent with regards to this matter, I mean haha when did I have a talent that I could proudly share. Anyway, the yell had ended successfully and our unit had even won this competition, I felt proud of the one who led our team in this competition since I knew she could be a good leader shortly.

Afterward, students were encouraged to share their talents and showcase them in front of the whole education department, it was fun to watch the freshmen perform different kinds of shows, just as singing, and dancing, and there was even one who shared her written poem.

The morning session had been full of energy and now for the afternoon event, there was this on-the-spot making of instructional materials that aims to unleash the potential of students that have a hidden creativity within themselves. They only had one hour to create instructional materials and since it was a group competition by unit, each of them had divided the task and created such masterpieces within a short period. There were also a lot of other competitions like slogan, poster making, quiz bee, and quiz ball but since I was tasked to facilitate the on-the-spot making of instructional materials I didn't get to have a glimpse of the competition just like the quiz ball.

Now that the first day of the celebration has successfully ended, it's to prepare for the feeding and literacy program that is going to happen later on that day.

Day 2

October 2, 2024. All I could share for this day is how stressful this is but I also feel satisfied as well. It's in the predetermined program that every unit must conduct a feeding and literacy program for the available daycare schools around the Municipality of Tabogon. It was a nice activity since as an aspiring to be an educator it would help me gain valuable hands-on experience on how will I manage to handle and teach kids in a real field. I must say that I'm so nervous since this was my first outreach program and to make this event successful I need to have the energy and strength to deal with kids that are so young and teaching them would challenging.

The program started with a welcome message from one of the teachers in our school, followed by the energizer, game-based activities, storytelling and feeding of the students. Our goal was to teach at the same time fill the student's stomachs with nutritious food. It was a real challenge getting the attention of mostly three-year-old kids and having them listen to the speaker in front. They only have this short attention span that's likely around two minutes and then after that, they'd be too busy wandering around the place.

We've prepared some group based activity for them but based on observation they prefer to mind their own business and work independently, while some still need guidance some kids follow the instructions well and some just have their worlds.

I even encountered this kid who is knowledgeable in basic shapes and colors but gets easily distracted by its surroundings. He would often roam around and he just won't care about any other people. I was glad that he even called me "ate" but then he always wanted to
make me run and go after him.

The feeding and literacy program had ended well and I'm glad that I was able to gain this new experience. I realized that in the real field, a teacher must always have patience and would always be willing to interact with their students to get their attention.

The afternoon program was all about Mr. and Ms. Visionary and it was a nice show since I think that most, education students were shy and would barely be able to present themselves in front of other people and that includes me as well.

Day 3

October 3, 2024, is A day that is dedicated to our beloved teachers, faculty and staff in our school. The council had prepared invigorating activities for teachers just like games. I had a good laugh watching those teachers have fun and they were also excited about the different sets of games. Later on, students are now encouraged to give their small tokens of gifts to their advisers and even to those teachers that they like, Many got emotional since there were students who shared some heartfelt messages that would truly make someone cry and the teachers as well were happy to know that there were students that had enjoyed their teaching and the learning that it imparts to them.

Teachers' Day had ended well and it's time to prepare for another battle next week. This experience had been new to me and I look forward to the surprises that would be prepared next year to commemorate the celebration of the World's Teachers' Day.
