Dear friends of this beautiful Daily Blog community, I join you today to share an interesting walk where I got to know one of the works of the Biennial that is exhibited in the Plaza Vieja.
For two weeks the XV Biennial has been held in Havana, this is an event where contemporary works of art by artists from different countries are exhibited and exhibited in the streets, galleries and museums to promote the link of the people with art, in this way art reaches everyone equally.
I have always enjoyed the works that exhibit outdoors as it allows interaction with people who cross their path during the daily routine and also when we go for a walk to enjoy the open environment. In our streets there are works that their authors have permanently left as a gift to the inhabitants who admire them.
Since the Biennial was inaugurated, I had not been able to walk the streets where some of these works are exhibited. That's why yesterday we set out to visit the Plaza Vieja because I had seen in the advertisements a work by the German sculptor Martin Steinert called Wood Cloud, Architecture of Desires. It is a large cloud made of thousands of wooden slats, has a height of 8 meters and 10 in diameter. This sculptor has made 35 of these clouds in different countries and it is his first time in our country.
I loved this work because the artist's goal is for people to interact with his work by writing down a wish or thought. I knew that it was going to be difficult for me to find a space to write my wish, since almost all the tables I could access were already written, the highest bars are still free. But after searching all over the cloud I found a place to capture it.
I also took the opportunity to photograph the square, it is so beautiful!, its cobbled streets, the colonial buildings with their columns, arches, large windows, beautiful stained glass windows and facades with bright paintings.
In addition, its beautiful fountain made of Carrara marble and the sculptures on display are impressive.
I love to see that immense rooster by our great artist Roberto Fabelo, it is a bronze sculpture in which the rooster has a woman riding a large fork, I really like this sculpture because of the allegory it represents.
I am also very struck by the sculpture called Natura that represents a flower that grows in the square itself.
In the square you could feel a very lively Cuban music that invited you to go dancing, my feet immediately began to move and I went straight to see where it was, it was a musical group that was playing at the La Vitrola Restaurant, it has a very Cuban design with many old objects and photos of cultural personalities such as the singer Celia Cruz and the writer Ernest Hemingway who made it a great experience. frequented in times past. I liked getting to know the place because it is very lively and welcoming.
It is my wish that you liked the tour of the Plaza Vieja and that you learned about this sculpture Wooden cloud of the Biennial, have you already thought about what message you would like to write down? Don't miss the opportunity to visit it.
