My Friday and Saturday: A Weekend of Research, Reflection, and a Touch of Nostalgia

in Daily Blog20 hours ago

My little corner of the internet, how's it hanging? 👋 I'm hoping you're all doing better than me because my weekend was a blur of activity! 🌪️ Friday and Saturday were a total blur! 😵‍💫

Friday started with a trip to the police station. It wasn't something I'd planned for, but it was necessary. I had some things to file, but I can't share the details yet – maybe soon! The atmosphere at the station was a bit tense, and I felt a bit out of place. I'm not used to dealing with official paperwork and procedures, but the officer I spoke with was kind and helpful. It was a relief to get it done, even though it left me feeling a bit overwhelmed. The fluorescent lights seemed to amplify the tension in the air, and the constant clicking of keyboards and hushed conversations added to the sense of urgency. I tried to focus on the task at hand, but my mind kept wandering, replaying the events that led me to this point. It felt like a scene from a movie, a world away from the familiar routines of my daily life.

After the police station, I rushed to my classmate's house. She had texted me around noon, asking me to come over right away for a research project. I was surprised, as I'd assumed we had more time, but she explained the deadline was looming. I quickly gathered my things and headed over,

feeling a bit rushed. The city traffic seemed to conspire against me, each red light adding to my growing sense of unease. I knew I wasn't always the most productive outside of my own home, especially when I'm not in my own room. I get easily distracted and find it hard to concentrate when I'm not in my comfort zone. But I was determined to do my part, to contribute to the project and meet the deadline.

We sat down at her table, just the four of us, and started working on our research paper for our thesis. It was quiet, which I usually appreciate, but I found it hard to focus. The silence seemed to amplify my own thoughts, each one a distraction from the task at hand. I tried to block out the noise of my own mind, to concentrate on the words in front of me. But the words seemed to blur, the sentences losing their meaning. I felt a familiar sense of frustration, the feeling of being trapped in a mental loop. I glanced at my classmates, their faces illuminated by the glow of their laptops, their eyes focused on the screen. They seemed so calm, so collected, so at ease with the task at hand. I envied their focus, their ability to shut out the world and immerse themselves in the work.

Despite the distractions, we managed to get the work done (even though i wasn't much more help than i thought i would). We were all pretty focused, and the quietness of the house actually helped us stay on track. After we finished, we relaxed a bit, laughing and catching up. It was nice to have some time to unwind after the intense focus of the research session. We talked about our plans for the weekend, our hopes for the future, and our shared experiences as students. It was a reminder that even though life can be challenging, it's also full of connection and camaraderie.

Later, we went to the local municipality for some street food. The air was cool, and the streetlights cast a warm glow on the bustling scene. We shared stories and laughed, enjoying the simple pleasures of good food and good company. The aroma of grilled meats and sweet desserts filled the air, a symphony of scents that tantalized our senses. We lingered over our food, savoring the moment, the feeling of shared laughter and camaraderie.

When I got home, I was exhausted. Despite knowing I had an important exam in my major the next day, I went straight to bed. I woke up early on Saturday, determined to study, but I found myself drawn to my phone. I opened TikTok and stumbled upon a video of the girl group UNIS dancing to "Pantropiko."

I'm not a huge fan of BINI, the original group who made the song, but I love their music, and UNIS's version was so sweet and upbeat. It made me smile, and I got lost in TikTok for hours. The endless stream of videos, the catchy tunes, and the vibrant personalities of the performers seemed to transport me to a different world, a world where worries and deadlines faded away.

I was starting to doubt if our exam was even happening because our professor hadn't updated our group chat. I started to talk myself out of studying, but it turned out we were having the exam after all. I rushed to get ready, taking a bath and scrambling to get to class. I arrived late and ended up in the second batch of test-takers. I crammed as much as I could and took the exam, which was quite challenging. I managed to answer a few questions and passed it to my professor

After the exam, we went to the mall to celebrate. We walked through the bustling hallways, the air thick with the scent of perfume and popcorn. We browsed the shops, laughing and sharing stories. I also kind of notice that they're doing a halloween party and i saw this little girl wearing wednesday Addams costume and then it's so cute

We sat down at a seafront , sipping on our drinks and reminiscing about our first year of college. We talked about our favorite memories, our shared experiences, and the bonds we had forged. We sat in the same spot where we always hung out back then, in the grass of front of seafront/sands . The world outside seemed to fade away as we lost ourselves in our conversation, the warmth of our shared laughter filling the space around us.
