The NC2 CSS Computer System Services program was supposed to be part of our second-year curriculum, not our third. Ideally, we'd have completed it last year, leaving our third year free for focusing on our major subjects and research—a notoriously demanding undertaking. So, here we were, in December, during Christmas break, scrambling to complete the NC2 certificate, a requirement for graduation and a crucial stepping stone for securing On-the-Job Training (OJT). The two-day deadline felt even tighter given some personal challenges I faced on the first day. It was tough to concentrate, but thankfully, I had incredible friends who provided unwavering support.

That first day was a whirlwind of iOS installations and computer configurations. With 43 students needing two computers each, there was a significant amount of waiting. The lab hummed with the combined noise of countless computer fans and the occasional frustrated sigh. By 1 PM, we were fully immersed in the work. Around 4 PM, some classmates suggested postponing the practical exercises until the next day. However, fueled by caffeine and sheer determination, my friends and I pressed on. We finally finished around 6 PM, exhausted but satisfied. Two friends headed home, but we stayed to solidify our understanding.

The second day began brighter, not just because of the sunshine, but also because I felt more composed after talking with my friends. The RJ45 cabling remained a challenge. Using a crimper, that small hand tool resembling pliers, we carefully cut the UTP cable. The tiny wires were a nightmare to manage; getting the color order correct

(white orange, orange, white green, green, blue, white blue, white brown, brown) felt like solving a frustrating miniature puzzle. I made a few mistakes, nicking wires and having to restart. My friends were invaluable, patiently guiding and encouraging me. Finally, we finished, filled with a sense of accomplishment.

After a welcome lunch break, we tackled the iOS and server installations. Our teacher, Mr. Castro, a truly kind, understanding, and humble person, even let us watch movies on his tablet to keep those waiting for computer access entertained.

The long waits for server installations were made much more bearable this way.
My friend Ivan Camarada was a tremendous help, patiently guiding me through each step, especially since my personal issues had hindered my studies.

His explanations finally made everything click. Around 3 PM, Mr. Castro surprised us by ordering Jollibee fries for everyone via a food delivery app—a much-needed morale boost! I got my chance to practice around 4 PM, and after an hour of focused work, I felt confident I had passed.

To relax, I strolled around the almost deserted campus with @evitadiss . It was Christmas break, creating an incredibly peaceful atmosphere.

Only the distant sounds of students playing basketball and rustling leaves broke the silence. The tranquility was a stark contrast to the intensity of the previous days. As we returned to the lab, we were greeted by a sudden downpour—a dramatic end to a challenging but ultimately rewarding experience.

After the program concluded, I commuted home in the rain, reflecting on the whirlwind of the last two days. The rain felt refreshing and cleansing, a fitting backdrop for the end of such an intense experience.

The NC2 program was a success, and even more importantly, my friendships had been strengthened. It was a Christmas miracle, indeed!
