Hace un rato que no pasaba por acá y es que el trabajo me ha consumido bastante, pero quería contarles que logré inscribirme en un nuevo semestre en la universidad.

It's been a while since I've been here and work has consumed me a lot, but I wanted to tell you that I managed to enroll in a new semester at the university.
Las inscripciones de nuestra carrera, Ingeniería de Alimentos, empezaron el día lunes 03 de febrero y tendríamos una semana para inscribirnos, así que, junto con mi amiga Paola, nos fuimos a inscribir el día miércoles, pues es nuestro día libre del trabajo.
Nos fuimos temprano, como a eso de las 8:30 estábamos en la universidad y debo decir que estaba bastante vacío, en realidad esto no me sorprende porque nuestra matricula en esta carrera no es muy grande, a diferencia de otras como Administración, donde la gente tuvo que hasta madrugar para venir a inscribirse.
The registration for our career, Food Engineering, started on Monday, February 3rd, and we had a week to register, so my friend Paola and I went to register on Wednesday since it was our day off from work.
We left early, at about 8:30 we were at the university and I must say that it was quite empty, actually this does not surprise me because our enrollment in this career is not very large, unlike others such as Administration, where people had to get up early to come to register.
Teníamos que comprar 2 planillas y llenarlas con nuestros datos y las materias que queríamos cursar, yo decidí inscribir 5 materias esta vez, porque el último semestre fue un total estrés para mí viendo 7 materias, esta vez quiero llevar las cosas con un poco más de calma, además de que estaré trabajando también, entonces no podía meter una carga muy fuerte.
Nos encontramos con más compañeros y nos sentamos en las escaleras para llenar las planillas, los extrañaba, al menos coincidimos en varias materias.
We had to buy 2 forms and fill them out with our data and the subjects we wanted to take, I decided to enroll 5 subjects this time, because last semester was a total stress for me seeing 7 subjects, this time I want to take things a little more calmly, plus I will be working too, so I could not put a heavy load.
We met up with more classmates and sat on the stairs to fill out the forms, I missed them, at least we overlapped in several subjects.
Después nos fuimos a Control de estudios para entregar una planilla, nos firmaron ambas y debemos quedarnos con una. Este sistema es tan arcaico, cuanto quisiera que esta universidad tuviera un sistema decente donde no tuviéramos que hacer las cosas a la antigua, pero bueno, es lo que hay. Espero que este año las cosas mejoren y que finalmente inviertan un poco en esta universidad que a veces me sorprende cómo se a mantenido de pie.
Por suerte, al ser tan pocos en la carrera no tuvimos que hacer fila o esperar mucho, solo nuestro turno para pasar y entregar la planilla y listo.
Then we went to the Control de Estudios to hand in a form. They signed both forms, and we have to keep one. This system is so archaic. How much I wish this university had a decent system where we didn't have to do things the old-fashioned way, but hey, it is what it is. I hope that this year things will improve and that they will finally invest a little in this university, which sometimes amazes me how it has stayed on its feet.
Luckily, being so few in the race we didn't have to wait in line or wait long, just our turn to go through and hand in the form and that was it.
Cuando terminamos todos, nos fuimos a la cafetería de la universidad para desayunar.
Arslens se tuvo que traer a su sobrino, Axel, porque estaba de niñera y nosotros estábamos encantados con él, es un niño adorable y muy bien portado.
Aquí estuvimos un buen rato, comiendo churros y conversando sobre las expectativas para este nuevo semestre. Hay profesores nuevos y eso nos tiene algo nerviosos, solo esperamos aprobar todo y que las cosas nos salgan bien, la vida del estudiante venezolano es una locura siempre, muchos retos que enfrentar en el día a día.
Extrañé a mis amigos, espero verlos pronto al iniciar el semestre.

When we were all done, we went to the university cafeteria for breakfast.
Arslens had to bring his nephew, Axel, because he was babysitting and we were delighted with him, he is an adorable and very well-behaved boy.
We were here for a while, eating churros and talking about the expectations for this new semester. There are new professors and that makes us a little nervous, we just hope to pass everything and that things go well for us, the Venezuelan students' lives are always crazy, many challenges to face every day.
I missed my friends, I hope to see them soon at the beginning of the semester.

Es verdad que el sistema es un poco arcaico, las inscripciones deberían ser automatizadas, pero de todos modos te deseo mucha suerte y éxito en este nuevo semestre, que todo te salga bien y no tengas inconvenientes.
