Greetings, Hivers! It's me again, @rufajane, and for today's blog, I will be talking about my research presentation experience last week. So join me as I take you on this ride...

Our teacher assigned us to start conducting our research. And to be honest, those days are filled with confusion, tired work, and questions. It even came to a point when I questioned myself, “What is the significance of research in our lives? ”

So fast forward...
It is now time to defend chapter one of our research. I was worried from the minute I heard the announcement. Regardless of how much you enjoy public speaking, I must acknowledge that anxiousness is an intrinsic part of us. I'm full of questions regarding what will happen during the presentation. "Will I be able to defend our research?" " or "What conceivable questions may our teacher ask?".
The night before, I began preparing my presentation for the upcoming defense. So I spend hours practicing my presentation so that it goes well during the actual presentation.

Early in the morning:
As usual, I awoke at 4:00 a.m. And then I hurried down the first floor of our house to take a bath. After having a bath, I organized my materials to rehearse my presentation. And I have to say, it's exhausting. However, I remind myself that everything will be OK one hour before we leave for school. It will only take an hour to present and defend, after which it will be over.

The second subject we cover in the morning is practical research. So I don't have enough time to practice after coming at our school.

Now it was time to defend our first chapter. Our teacher calls us to the com lab since the presentation will be held there.

We muster our courage before stepping into the comlab, unsure of what awaits us during the presentation.

With four members in our group, we divided the topics among ourselves. I was tasked with presenting and explaining the theoretical foundation of our study and defining key terms. After the presentation, we were asked to come forward so our teacher could pose questions about our research. Therefore, I gathered my courage and addressed all the questions posed by our PRAC teacher.

Was it easy for me/us?

No, it was not. A research presentation is quite different from public speaking, as we lack the time to prepare our responses. Additionally, we must be cautious about how we respond during the defense to avoid revealing any flaws in our presented topic.

The teacher posed numerous questions related to our study, and I had to answer them based on what was asked. Thus, the entire experience is exhausting for all of us.

After the research defense, I treated myself to cucumber — one of my favorite food/snack.”

Upon returning to our classroom, it felt like all the weight I had been carrying was lifted. So, I took some time to relax before the upcoming summative exam later that day.

By the way, we had beef for dinner with my parents after the class ended. It was delicious to look at. But even though we were all hungry, we waited quietly in the car. 😂

My parents brought a meat for our dinner that day.

Ultimately, I chose to focus on enjoying the activities I was engaged in to ease my anxiousness. I have come to realize that, as students, there are times when our schedules are filled with schoolwork and extracurricular activities. While this can be challenging and stressful for us, accepting this reality is what helps reduce feelings of boredom.
