I attended the baptism of a book (Esp/Eng)

Greetings, dear hivers, today I will tell you about the experience of a special activity related to literature.

Once again I visited the Casa Ramos Sucre to witness the christening of the book "El último vuelo del escarabajo azul" (The Last Flight of the Blue Beetle) by Venezuelan broadcaster, teacher and writer José Marcano Carpintero. This work presents a series of chronicles told in first person where anecdotes and experiences of the author are appreciated, which promises to captivate readers.

The enthusiasm was present at this event, which was attended by friends, family and a large group of professors and students of the Universidad de Oriente (UDO), as Marcano Carpintero has been part of the institution for many years, including being my professor in the pedagogical part. So I also had the opportunity to meet with some of my former professors and classmates.

The heat of the afternoon did not dull the joy of this event. The event was opened by the announcer Cruz Serrano, followed by a pleasant conversation between the renowned writer Rubí Guerra, the Doctor of Letters Reinaldo Cardoza and the author, who focused on the process of creation of the work, from its concept, revisions and selection of writings, to the printing of the book. Undoubtedly, this dialogue achieved a deep connection between the chronicles and the public present, as they show everyday realities that do not seem very distant.

In this celebration we were able to know in depth the motivation behind the author to launch the adventure of publishing a physical book, when technology has inclined the reading through electronic devices and digital formats. In this regard, the author stated that "When he can't talk, he writes". The art of storytelling must preserve its legacy and transcend beyond borders and generations, that culture inherited from parents and grandparents must be preserved.

As the final act of this ceremony, the author's relatives approached the podium to baptize the book in a very particular way because ground coffee was used, which symbolizes the attachment to his roots. The writer said that when he was very young he sowed, cultivated and ground the beans, so coffee was present in his life, as a vital part of his formation and experience.

The baptism was a memorable event because it brought together various writers and literature lovers who live in the state of Sucre. This first work promises to be the beginning of a new stage in the literary world. The hands and the restless mind of this author are working on a second volume of experiences, since it is Marcano Carpintero's favorite way to express himself and, in this way, continue enriching the cultural panorama of the region.

At the end of the protocol, and as is customary in these events, a lot of books were available for sale to the public, of course with a dedication from the author, so I took the opportunity to purchase one. This dynamic also served to share ideas and talk for a while with those present, while we enjoyed a coffee and some delicious cookies.

Saludos, estimados hivers, hoy les relataré la experiencia de una actividad especial relacionada con la literatura.

Nuevamente visité la Casa Ramos Sucre para presenciar el bautizo del libro "El último vuelo del escarabajo azul" del locutor, docente y escritor venezolano José Marcano Carpintero. Esta obra presenta una serie de crónicas contadas en primera persona donde se aprecian anécdotas y vivencias del autor, lo que promete cautivar a los lectores.

El entusiasmo estuvo presente en este evento, al cual asistieron amigos, familiares y un nutrido grupo de profesores y estudiantes de la Universidad de Oriente (UDO), pues Marcano Carpintero forma parte de la institución desde hace muchos años, inclusive fue mi profesor en la parte pedagógica. Así que también tuve la oportunidad de encontrarme con algunos de mis antiguos profesores y compañeros de clases.

El calor de la tarde no opacó la alegría de este evento. El inicio estuvo a cargo del locutor Cruz Serrano, posteriormente se estableció una amena conversación entre el reconocido escritor Rubí Guerra, el doctor en Letras Reinaldo Cardoza y el autor, quienes se enfocaron en el proceso de creación de la obra, desde su concepto, revisiones y selección de escritos, hasta la impresión del libro. Sin duda, este diálogo logró una profunda conexión entre las crónicas y el público presente pues dan cuenta de realidades cotidianas que no lucen muy distantes.

En esta celebración pudimos conocer a fondo la motivación que se esconde detrás del autor para lanzarse a la aventura de publicar un libro físico, cuando la tecnología ha inclinado la lectura a través de dispositivos electrónicos y formatos digitales. Al respecto, el autor declaró que "Cuando no puede hablar, escribe". El arte de contar historias debe conservar su legado y trascender más allá de las fronteras y generaciones, se debe preservar esa cultura heredada de padres y abuelos.

Como acto final de esta ceremonia, los familiares del autor se acercaron al estrado para bautizar el libro de modo muy particular porque se utilizó café molido, lo cual simboliza el apego por sus raíces. El escritor dijo que cuando era muy joven sembraba, cultivaba y molía los granos, así que el café estuvo presente en su vida, como una pieza vital de su formación y experiencia.

El bautizo fue un evento memorable porque reunió a diversos escritores y amantes de la literatura que hacen vida en el estado Sucre. Esta primera obra promete ser el inicio de una nueva etapa en el mundo literario. Las manos y la mente inquieta de este autor trabajan en un segundo tomo de vivencias, pues es la forma favorita de Marcano Carpintero para expresarse y, de esta forma, seguir enriqueciendo el panorama cultural de la región.

Al finalizar el protocolo, y tal como se estila en estos eventos, un lote de libros estuvo disponible para la venta al público, por supuesto con dedicatoria del autor, así que aproveché para adquirir uno. Esta dinámica también sirvió para compartir ideas y conversar un rato con los presentes, mientras disfrutábamos de un café y unas deliciosas galletas.
