Celebrating birthdays is such a good time to bond with family and friends. But not so good when you're the one preparing the meals. From thinking on what to cook, buying all the ingredients, carrying all the stuff bought, preparing, and the cooking time is a very exhausting process. We're a big family that loves home cooked food so everything must be enough and prepared by us. And having a big family do have pros and cons. Pros being the work force in the kitchen. Lots of help, and bonus if everyone knows how to cook. And cons, as being a big family you also have to prepare food enough (more like, more than enough) for the whole family and friends.
That's what happened today. It's my nephew's birthday. Woke up extra early to get some fresh produce at the market with my sister. Mostly I'm not a very big help early in the mornings as I tend to take my time drinking coffee and wake up but I made an exemption today. We're already at the market by 6 am, getting all the stuff needed.
We made a quick stop at our other sister's store..
And also got some of my favorite fruits.
We're home by 9 am and quickly got started on what to cook first.
Pizza went in first.
We're using the most efficient oven that @terganftp recommended together with the power meter monitor.
It's nice to have this power meter to see if the kitchen appliances uses too much electricity for such an affordable price.
And while the pizza is cooking I quickly got started with the pasta. Now, I'm very grateful that I grew up in the province and lived with my aunt and her family that are good cooks during my high school. And they mostly host lots of people during fiestas so cooking a big batch of food is not new to me. And it's also the reason why I'm in charge of cooking whenever there's a family occasion. It's because I got some of their recipe. 😬
So I got my huge sauce pan and a big pot for the pasta to cook.
After 20 mins of cooking time here's the final product.
Originally, the celebrants mom @joujou88 is going to make the birthday cake but decided just to buy one as we won't have enough time.
They had set up a designated area for food and taking pictures but sadly I did not have the chance to get a picture of.
And.. the party started by singing the birthday boy a happy birthday and I went upstairs to get some well needed rest. The carbs and sweet food and soda got me in such a sleepy state. I may have had food coma.
Tomorrow I will have to use the steamer that @terganftp also recommended.. switching to steamed veggies or eggs will help me ease the guilt of the food consumed today.
Lots of food and laugh today so it's been a great day. That is all for now thank you for reading. :)
Looks like her was an awful lot of good being prepared there. How many people showed up? As for the power meter I love how it meets me see how much it costs to use something. Electricity costs can be easily worth it or a gigantic waste and is really hard to tell without a meter .
Also was that you or your sister in the fruit stall? Just curious. Also glad the oven was useful for the pizza. So cheap and so useful... but probably not for so many people :)
